Dear Patriot Families,

I hope you have had time to enjoy your summer vacation and are ready to embark on the 2017-2018 school year. As we approach the new school year, the main goal we have as an administration is to reduce the need for schedule changes at the beginning of the year. At the end of the 2016-2017 school year, we had every student check their current class selections to verify the courses they selected. We also provided summer time assistance by having a guidance counselor available every day from June 1-July 24 from 9:00am - 1:00pm Monday – Thursday (Friday the offices of LBHS are closed during the summer). After July 24, counselors will be back to resolve any schedule conflicts. Our goal is to have short lines and few changes during Pre School Processing. We want students to come to Lake Brantley with the security of having a correct schedule the first day of school. If you are interested in enrolling in full time public virtual school, you need to contact Seminole County Virtual School (SCVS). SCVS is only open for enrollment for two windows during the year. The window for the 2017-2018 Semester 1 is until August 7. SCVS is located at 450 Technology Park in Lake Mary and the number is 407-871-7287. The website is Our three goals for the 2016-2017 school year were to upgrade technology, improve facilities, and improve student achievement in biology, geometry, and algebra II.

Counselors will review student schedules before Pre School Processing in August (August 1-3, 2017) to ensure the course choices are appropriate to level and graduation needs. During Pre School Processing, requests for schedule changes should be minimal but will be considered for the following: • If the student has already received credit for the same course • To meet a graduation requirement for a senior • If a prerequisite was not met • If there is a hole in the student’s schedule Requests for schedule changes will not be made for the following: • Elective class changes • Request for a different teacher • Request for a different lunch • Request to take a class during a specific period
