Principal’s Message
Ms. Jennie Perez
As the fun of summertime quickly approaches it is important that both parents and students keep something in mind. Sooner than you think it will be time to get ready to return to school. Summer break is an important opportunity for students to recharge their batteries and have new experiences. While school provides structure and routine, both of which help young adults, summertime allows students the opportunity to make some choices on their own. These decision-making opportunities are important because choices are the essence of being an adult. One such choice that I hope students, supported by their parents, will make this summer is to stay academically active. As I said before, it is important to step away from school for a bit, but it is also important to keep your brain active. Students can do this in any number of ways. This summer ENMS will be offering a summer reading club which will meet at the school two days per week. During this time students will be able to read and discuss a text of their own choosing. East Naples Middle School has arranged for great prizes for students who choose to participate. Students who read four books this summer, write a brief summary of each, and complete a small project on one of the books will be treated to a special surprise when we return in the fall. Details about this program were given to students before the end of this school year and are posted on our school website. Mr. Dozer, our Math Coach, has arranged for a similar opportunity for all our students. All ENMS students have been provided information about a summer math learning opportunity. Students are encouraged to use the Myskillstutor.com website to access and complete a unit of math practice. Any student who completes the module will be invited to a special luncheon upon return at the start of the school year. Information about both programs is listed on our website for both parents and students. Summertime is a necessary break for students. Students should use the additional freedoms that the extra time brings to make good choices. It is also important that students and parents remember that the start of the next school year is closer than you think, so be sure to take some time to keep your brain thinking. I hope each of our students has a safe and enjoyable summer.

Can you believe another end of the school year? It seems like yesterday that we welcomed our new sixth graders to our school and welcomed back our seventh and eighth graders. No one can deny the amount of hard work our students put forth this school year. It was awesome to see the growth in our students. Equally awesome were our teachers. They came together to provide many exciting learning experiences for our students. East Naples continues to shine because of our students, staff, teachers and parents sharing one common theme… “Gator Pride”. I bet many of you are making plans for summer. Remember, in the event that your student missed a final exam, the make-up dates are June 5th or August 11th. Report cards do not come home on the last day of school. Instead, the district office will mail report cards home to each student. Please be on the lookout for the report cards. In case your child does not successfully pass a class or needs to remediate a class from the prior school year, summer school is being offered for middle school students at Golden Gate High School. The start date is June 16th – July 24th. In case you are sticking around for the summer, please plan on joining our Summer Reading Program on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at ENMS. We have teachers ready to help you choose exciting books to read this summer. Those who participate and complete the project will be invited to a party in the Fall. Sign up today with Mrs. Costello, our awesome Reading Coach. Our website will have summer information that you can access, including our summer reading program and math program information. I would like to thank our ENMS family for a great year! Go Gators!!!
