WHAT ARE THE

ADVANTAGES OF MAKING INMATES WORK?

Prison is a second-by-second assault on the soul, a day-to-day degradation of the self, an oppressive steel and brick umbrella that transforms second into hours and hours into days.

bibliography, Prison labor is a contested topic. For some there is no question that prison labor is exploitative, because its existence draws directly from legacies of slavery or penal colonization and because prison conditions have become so inhumane that any labor that occurs in this space is inherently exploitative. However, many 21st-century studies have challenged this perspective, showing that it is more cost-effective to avoid incarceration rather than imprisoning people and then attempting to make up for the costs. Another perspective is that prison labor can be beneficial for incarcerated people, especially if the labor is skilled or includes vocational training, as it may serve to rehabilitate prisoners and prepare them for work on the outside. This article provides readers with both qualitative and quantitative analyses of these varying viewpoints. Prison labor must also be analyzed at both the micro and macro levels. It simultaneously affects individuals and entire societies; the work being conducted by prisoners has daily implications and meanings for the prisoners themselves, while also having an impact on local and global market forces. Commonly when you are in prison you’ll surely have some benefits in order for you not to be depressed and left out alone in the society. Now a days being in prison has also upgraded. Where inmates do work and got salary too, where inmates can also enjoy their stay inside the jail.

Don't

Have to Worry about a Job to Make Ends Meet. One stress or that people have on the outside is employment finding employment, keeping employment, making ends meet. This is not an issue in prison. You will almost certainly be required to be involved in some sort of work. Time to Reflect on Life. Prison can be a great place to reflect on life and on what you need to do to straighten your life out. The structured environment and the lack of having to work long hours to make ends meet allows prison to be a nice place to take an honest inventory of your life, your strengths and your weaknesses and what you need to do to get better. Healthy Diet and Exercise. A third advantage to prison is that food is relatively healthy and bal-

anced and there will usually be opportunities to get exercise. Since being inside the jail has a lot of similarities outside the jail. Well of course if there is similarities then there will be differences, the difference is that you have a case to face and to handle. Medical Care. While there are stories of inmates being denied medical care while locked up This is also a big plus for many inmates as they often receive no medical care outside of prison and being locked up gives them an opportunity for them to get treatment that they have neglected to get for years.

These

are basically the advantages if you are an inmates cause you basically can find a job with a salary.
