The 2021-2022 school year was a year of celebration and renewal for the Academies of Nashville.
The Academies of Nashville celebrated its 15th Anniversary, and we kicked off the celebration with a rebrand complete with a new logo at our AON Awards in June. This new logo marks the mission of the Academies by placing the student at the center, with graduation on their mind and the path to postsecondary at their feet.
It was another busy year, and we accomplished quite a lot!
Here are a few examples:
We launched Work Based Learning in our schools, where students could work in a field of interest to them, earning $15 an hour while also earning class credit.
AON continued our work with the New Skills Ready network, which JPMorgan Chase and Co. launched in 2020.
In partnership with the Nashville Hub, we hosted the first in-person Academies of Nashville Study Visit since the spring of 2020.
Finally, we developed a new strategic plan in partnership with our stakeholders at the Academies of Nashville retreat focusing on 6 priorities:
• Inspire and Equip School Teams
• Amplifying our Success Story
• Providing Applied Experiences
• Continuously Improve the Guiding Principles
• Develop evidence of an MNPS-Ready Graduate
• Create AON Metrics of Success
None of this work is possible without the support of our Founding Partners, Alignment Nashville, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, and PENCIL, as well as our outstanding business partners from the Nashville community. We are so grateful to each of you for supporting the Academies of Nashville.
Sincerely,
The Academies of Nashville and CTE Team(WBL) is a proactive approach to bridging the gap between high school and high-demand, high-skill careers in Tennessee. As part of the New Skills Ready Earn and Learn Program, WBL was implemented at 4 MNPS high schools in August 2021. With the addition of jobs within MNPS in January 2022, WBL expanded to 3 additional high schools. For the 2022-2023 school year, WBL will be implemented in all MNPS high schools.
