Causes and Solutions of Child Labor Child labour itself means that child used as the source of income in return of labour. As responsible nations we celebrate the World Day against Child Labour on 12 June. We dedicate this day to millions of children bonded or forced to child labour. While, we support the cause to save children from life threatening forced labour. About 246 million of children are still forced into child labour, among which 171 million are facing life threating laboring jobs. Some of these hazardous jobs include working in coal mining, chemical work, dangerous machinery, quarries and even pesticides. At the age of dreaming, better education, playing and following the dreams, children are subjected to feuds and laborer to work in return of money or freedom. In worst cases they are abducted and don’t even have any chance to avail their freedom. It is also known as “Child mining�. The problem is mainly caused in developing or underdeveloped countries like Africa, India and Latin America etc. To combat this plague it is essential to understand its root cause and possible solutions.

Root Cause of Child Labour 1. Poverty: The children born in poor families are not only born with poverty yet with responsibilities as well. The children of poor families are subjected to child labour because of the factors causing lacking of resources. When the families are not provided with basic necessities to fulfill their daily life chores, they get every member of the family subjected to labour including children. These children then serve in the factories, shops and even construction sites as their source of income. The basic necessities may include food, shelter and clothing which they have to comply with their small wages.
