I don’t think the frequency of the deformity is significantly different between the two ponds. It seems as though the frequency of the deformity does not relate to the infection of worms.

2 For a scenario in which there is a difference in the rate of deformity between the two ponds, describe (and if possible diagram) an experiment that will tell you whether the deformities are caused by the parasites, by the genes the frogs inherit from their parents, or by a combination of the two. What will you do with the frogs? What data will you collect? Include predictions for what the data will look like under each hypothesis.

The frogs in one pond are, on average, genetically more prone to deformity than the frogs in the other pond (the worms are irrelevant).

By running the simulation for a significant number of rounds (160+ days each round) and comparing the number of deformed frogs and normal frogs in each pond, I will be able to make an educated guess as to why these frogs developed the deformity. Because pond 2 has a larger infestation of worms, should that pond develop a greater number of deformities, then the hypothesis that the worms are irrelevant could be disproven. Should the two ponds develop the same number or have a greater number in the first pond, then the hypothesis that the worms are irrelevant to the development of the deformity could be supported by this experiment.

By separating only noninfected deformed and non infected normal frogs into their own populations, and then separating infected deformed and infected normal frogs, I can track if the development of the deformity is due to the worms or if genetics plays a role.

As seen in this screenshot, the deformity still developed in the normal uninfected populations.

population flourished and only developed 2 deformities out of 25. In pond 1, while the uninfected normal population flourished at the same rate as the normal infected population of pond 2, the infected frogs of pond 1 were still able to reproduce but at a slower rate.

What was the answer the Computer told you ?

The frogs in one pond must be more genetically inclined to develop the deformity than the other pond. The parasites play no role in this development.
