Personal Behavior Change

Everyone has different challenge in his/her life ,and he/she may have different view on the same thing. Therefore, people will have different goals which they are eager to achieve. Based on what my life looks like and what I need in my life, my behavior change is to exercise at least one hour every day. The reasons why I choose this goal are because I want to spend some time relaxing from my daily life, and get the balance between education and occupation. Moreover, I expect to burn the fat in my body because I spend very little time for workout since I got a job. When I planned to accomplish this behavior change, I knew that challenges or difficulties would appear, I could not avoid them and I could not finish it easily. But I am the kind of person who likes challenge and I am not afraid of it. Therefore, I chose this behavior change. During the process of this behavior change, I met a lot of difficulties and I learn how to get balance well in my life. The first and the biggest difficulty is time because the time availability is limit for me. Because I have two summer classes and I need to work five days weekly, time is huge challenge for me during the process. My schedule looks like going school on the morning and working at the evening. Therefore, the only ...show more content...

After accomplishing this behavior change, I also find that there is a big potential ability for me and I believe that if I spend time and work hard, I can get through everything no matter how hard it is. And if I had chance to select a behavior to change, I would do the same thing again because it is full of challenges for me. But I would reduce the time for working or others so that everything can get balance if I continue to keep working on this behavior change. I will try my best to continue this behavior change because it will make my body strong and

The Challenges Of My Life

In life, we all go through challenges and it's either we face them or walk away from it. Growing up, people will always have different ways of handling things that happens in their life. We can't know what could happen and how we handle it because life is unexpected. As I see it is that if you tend to keep making the same mistakes, you'll never get passed your past and if you learn from all of your mistakes, you can move forward with your life. Everyone has faced their challenges in their own way and not everything in life will be easy because I can tell you right now that no one's life is perfect. Everyone has their flaws, but they're perfect in their own way possible. The challenges I have gone through has made me the person I am today and has made me a stronger person mentally and physically. I'm more of an independent type of person because I'm not one to express my feelings to people I don't trust or don't know. I can tell my friends certain things, but when it comes to adults asking me about what's going on in my life, I can't open up to them. I feel anxiety every time an adult wants to talk to me because I don't like to say what I'm going through or how I'm feeling. I'll just tell them that everything is fine because I don't want to be asked more or been told more about talking to someone about my problems. I just like to do things on my own so I don't have to rely on having someone to be here for me whenever something is wrong. For example, when my sister

My Personal Challenges In My Life

Everyone faces barriers in their everyday lives, and I am no exception. My personal challenges have always happened to pertain to fitness and P.E. classes. I have tried to be athletic, when I was younger I was on a soccer team, a basketball team, and participated in Winterguard in eighth grade, all along with throughout the years desperately trying to make myself stick with a workout schedule. There are a few things in particular that have kept me from being physically active, despite my efforts, until recently in my life; I'm very busy and bad at time management, I don't do well continuing things, and I lack athletic talent. First of all, I am not good at time management and am also rather busy. I have always been a procrastinator, in all aspects of my life. This has not proved much of a problem when it comes to academics because if something has a deadline and is going to be graded, I will be stressed enough to eventually get it done. However, when it comes to things like fitness, that I am not graded on, I tend to procrastinate forever, because there is no deadline to stress me out. Along with my time management issues, I am in Speech in Debate, take all honors classes, and usually end up babysitting a large majority of my week. With all of this combined, fitness tends to be pushed to the side, to the point where I never get it done. Secondly, I am bad at committing to things. As I said, I have participated in various athletic activities, but for one reason or another,

Introduction Graduate school enhances the opportunity for an individual to achieve his or her personal and professional goals. The skills and knowledge acquired from graduate school are instrumental in career development; hence, one should pay close attention to the lessons learned in the quest for a master's degree. However, graduate school is never free of challenges. There are many challenges associated with the pursuit of a master's degree, and they start at the school application process. The challenges that one faces in graduate school may be intellectual or emotional. This paper focuses on some of the challenges associated with going to graduate school, and how I plan to overcome them as I pursue success in graduate school.

My personal goal is to become a public health nurse. My short–term goal is to graduate with a 1st class honours distinction. It has always been my goal to excel in everything I do, and I am committed to demonstrating the will to succeed with the highest distinction. In the world today many people undergo personal challenges that impact their lives negatively. Two short stories exhibit how personal challenges affects our relationships with others. As a writer, there are many challenges I face, requiring strength in different areas in order to overcome them. My greatest challenges would be momentum, writer's block, and confidence. When a writer understands their challenges they can become their greatest strengths. When I am writing it is important to have the adequate momentum to get from notes to final draft. I often find myself losing steam and have difficulty getting my momentum back. Allowing myself to get distracted, taking too many breaks, or starting mywriting when I know I will not have time to complete it all, contributes to my failed momentum. Writer's block can easily be considered the Achilles heel for all authors. When I can't form a thought worth writing down, I...show more content...

The feedback that was given on my journal writings all contained comments about my reference page formatting and citations. I struggle with using the correct format for each type of reference I use. Some steps I can take to improve my writing skills are utilizing the GCU Style Guide information, continuing to improve my vocabulary, and take thorough notes on the writing topic. The GCU Style Guide information provided on the universities website is a vital tool for first time college students, as it provides the necessary direction for writing with this style, formatting, and how to cite every type of resource. By improving my vocabulary and writing thorough notes, I will write with improved phraseology and provide more applicable material in my writing assignments.

I have written a plethora of writings in the past, including short stories, poetry, lyrics, essays, theatrical plays, and journals. Withing these, I have written descriptive, expository, narrative, and persuasive writings. My favorite types of writing are narrative in the form of short stories and persuasive

Personal Narrative: My Challenges As A Writer

Anais Nin, a Cuban author, once said, "We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection". Writing is like photography. It has a thousand different meanings and will always be there for times of reminiscing. It has been an important part of my life by enabling me to convey my inner thoughts that cannot easily be spoken. It serves as proof of my greatest memories, but also moments of despair. However, there were several obstacles and hurdles that had prevented me from writing to my desirability. Despite that, the journey that I have encountered through writing has led me to overcome challenges and has transformed me into a more skillful writer. I chose to write about how frequent testing benefits college students. I also encountered writer's block when I began this writing assignment, and decided to take a different approach. I began making an outline of how I was going to structure the essay, and used my annotated bibliography as a reference to which points I needed to address. To my surprise, the outline really helped aid me through writing my paper rather than limit me. It was the foundation of what my writing would become, and reminded me of my main focus if I ever got sidetracked. The outline also helped me direct each key point in my persuasive essay, such as, "Frequent testing is beneficial to students because it promotes better study habits, decreases risks for stress, and aids in the learning experience overall." In my opinion, this statement is conveyed in an affirmative tone, which is something I had a hard time with in my past writings. I used to have a hard time with this because I never used to be confident in my opinions. Due to the lack of confidence, my writings resulted to a temporary downfall. The uncertainty of my opinions became visible in my writing. Nonetheless, through the discovery of myself, I learned to voice my own opinion. Personal and Professional Challenges

Challenge is often viewed as a negative and rejecting word. In reality life would not move forward without unfavorable factors. Life is a series of pleasant and unpleasant elements and events combined together to take us to our desired destination. Obstacles help us to learn and grow in our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects during our lifespan. Self–improvement is the first step to advance and navigate personal and professional life to the right direction. Opposing forces in life help build our characters, teach us lessons we need, and make us realize that anything is possible...show more content...

Nurses must strive to sustain a healthy lifestyle to carry their responsibilities efficiently. Physical activity, eating healthy foods, and sleep are three important factors in maintaining physical health. With nurses' busy work and school schedule, it is so difficult to commit to these goals. Setting priorities and following scheduled activities will be a good time management strategy to achieve those objectives. Studies show that exercise, eating the right food, and sleep are very important stress reliever factors. A workout buddy is a great motivational tool in maintaining fitness goals. Healthy eating starts from a research about healthy foods and their positive effects in our health.

Sustain a Positive Mental Health Mental health and physical health go hand in hand. "Mental health is about the way you think and feel, and your ability to deal with ups and downs" (Mental Health Foundation, 2013). Nursing by nature is a very stressful job. Stress can influence individuals' mental well–being. It can cause depression and negative thoughts. To manage a healthy mental health nurses should dedicate some time (5–10 minutes) in the morning and evening reflecting and thinking on positive events. Meditation, yoga, and prayers are very effective methods for releasing stress. Reading self–help books and promoting positive thinking, asking for help when needed, along with a healthy social life are good resources to achieve mental health.

A personal challenge I have faced this year and in the past, has been in creating more connections with other people around me. I have found it difficult meeting new people and maintaining that connection. I do not aspire to create relationships with every person I meet but it would be useful to actually know more people and be able to formulate a professional conversation with them. To sum up, I would like to expand my circle of connections in order to provide myself with opportunities and the ability to hear different perspectives. The first habit discussed in class is to be proactive. After discussing the meaning and being given examples of what being proactive is, to me it basically means to understand that one has control of ones actions. It is in the conscious mind whether or not certain decisions are made and as a result it is us that have the power over our lives. I find that this habit could help me in solving my problem by allowing me to realize more and more that it is I whom needs to take control of my social life and understand that if I truly want to better my social connections with other people, I have to be the one that takes action. Nothing and no one else is going to have the control I have over myself, regardless if they remind me day after day to attend social events or join different clubs. I will always have the power. I believe it is essential that I understand habit number one before even thinking about moving on to habit number two because habit

Personal Challenges : My Personal Experience

As fellow Advocate personality type Martin Luther King Jr. said, "An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity." Strong willed and determined to help others to succeed, advocates make up less than one percent of the total population. Though this may be, I will still leave a mark on the world, being both insightful and idealistic. Collectively, my personality comes with a number of strengths such as creativity and determination; however, there are many challenges that I will have to overcome as I gain my independence and enter the adult world. First and foremost, one particular challenge that follows the advocate personality type that I feel will hinder me in gaining independence, is an over aversion to be extremely private and introverted. For example, when I first came to Tipton Rosemark Academy during sixth grade, I found it very hard to make friends because I didn't want to open up to anyone. This hindered me from finding friends for a length of time because I wanted to make sure I could trust people before I actually opened up to them. Moreover, I do not enjoy going to certain social events because I will have to converse with people I do not know well. A number of months ago, my mother was in charge of planning a wedding and I did not wish to go with her as I did not want to be around people I did not know. I am wary this will interfere with me becoming independent as there will be times I will have to talk to people I may not be acquainted with in college and career. Furthermore, I personally detest being made to present things in front of a group of people or peers. A couple of years ago, we were made to present a project on poetry and I found it terribly uncomfortable as I become anxious in doing things that expose me to the opinions of others. I feel this will undoubtedly become a problem when trying to gain independence. I have to learn there are going to be times when I am going to have to speak in front of people and interact with them on a personal level. All in all, I must learn to come out of my shell more and communicate more effectively. This will take work, but I know that I can do Get more content

Personal Statement: Challenge Idea

Section #1 – Challenge Idea: When my class was originally addressed with this challenge, I had a million thoughts and ideas about how I could make an impact flying through my head. I was initially thinking that I could just donate money to a charity or donate canned goods to a foodbank, but I wanted to be able to impact a person more directly than just giving money. After Professor Johnson mentioned how he did a "pass it on" type of challenge, I realized that I wanted to have a similar effect. I am a very compassionate and caring person, which is why I wanted to have a more direct impact on somebody's day to make them a little happier. My idea for my project was formed on a dreary and drizzly day on campus. I personally love the rain, but...show more content...

There was even a little sticky note on the table saying "Thank You!!". Knowing that somebody was grateful for something as small a poncho was very uplifting and made me feel satisfied with my successful challenge. Although I do not know who ended up taking my ponchos, I knew that they were being put to good use and would make someone's day a little brighter. Even if these students did not literally pass on the ponchos to another student in need, I was able to express a good deed onto them, and hopefully make them take a second and think about a way that they could make somebody else's day a little bit sunnier. I think that the biggest impact here was not the physical giving of the ponchos, but the awareness that I spread that even littlest deeds can mean the world to someone and it does not take a lot to brighten someone's

I finally found the answer to my Ah–Ha moment during the lectures of Leadership in Context on Command and Staff Course. From the story above we can make a summary that an unskilled and incompetent commander or leader could not change the organizational culture in his short time of leading the unit. I realized that this condition happen because the unit still have strong and healthy organizational culture and also supported by good officer at low and medium level of organizational. The officer performed a good leadership and have full controlled on their subordinates to overcome the problem caused by their commander. When the commander led with uncertain direction and decision, they understood the situation and managed themselves to control and command the subordinate to achieve the goal. Based on this story, I can say that they performing theory of distributed and collective leadership. They distributed the task and worked together to achieve the goal. Canadian Forces (2005b) as cited in Chan (2011) stated that 'distributed leadership requires that all of its personnel think of leadership as a shared function or responsibility in their team or organizational; that all personnel are expected to influence each other to achieve outcomes depending on the situation that they are in' (Chan, 2011, 206). My Personal Leadership Challenge Analysis

The new ways of thinking that will help me to readdress my personal leadership challenge involves better understanding the concepts of values–based leadership, situational leadership, and style, skills, and trait approaches to leadership. Values–based leadership revolves around how the values that people have, influence the decisions they make and the actions they take. Northouse mentions that "because leaders usually have more power and control than followers, they also have more responsibility to be sensitive to how their leadership affects followers' lives" (2013, p. 428). Due to this strong statement, working to further understand the major types of values that relate to leadership will be important for me to pin–point which values my supervisor distinctively displays and which values he does not. Being able to understand this information is key as "values are important to understanding leadership because they explain the focus and direction of peoples actions" (Fernandez & Hogan, 2002) and in this case, my supervisor's actions. Two values that are particularly interesting are the values of being just and being respectful. My supervisor strongly portrays the value of equality as he "make[s] it a top priority to treat all of [his] subordinates in an equal manner" (Northouse, 2013, p.433). He displays this when he gathers all instructors for a talk before we go to teach swimming lessons. On the contrary, although my supervisor has passion, he can come off as being ignorant

Change is possible if you put effort into it. This 30–day challenge has made me acknowledge that it is not simple to judge myself, I have been trying to find problems that I need to fix with myself, but it is very difficult to change my bad habits that I have developed throughout time. I took this challenge thinking it was going to be a pieces of cake, but little did I know I was going to be facing some challenges. I have realized that I am able to change my education, health, and personal growth in a positive way. For example, instead of eating a In–N–Out hamburger, I would go home and prepare myself a healthier meal, like a small portion of quinoa with chicken breast. Another challenge I was able to overcome was to do exercise. For example, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I would attend kickboxing classes that my health insurance offered me. I would also go for afternoon walks with my dog along with my sister. Although, I was not able to lose weight, I was able to maintain the same weight and not gain any more weight. In addition, I have been working on taking my medications for my asthma everyday. For example, I would set alarms on my phone that would remind me to take my medications every morning. For my personal growth I was able to change in a very positive way. I started this challenge with a very low self esteem, but with this challenge really focusing on having a positive attitude made my self esteem exclude to the max. For example, I was able to accept myself for who I am and not bring myself down anymore. I gave myself the opportunity to hang out with friends and go out in dates, now I am getting more out of my comfort zone and I am doing amazing. Another habit that I have worked on has been being a cleaner person when it comes to my room. For example, when I get ready for school I make sure everything is back in place before I leave for school. Although it was a very difficult process to correct my habits, I was in shock to see that I was able to change and

My Challenge Essay

Challenges are everywhere especially when you are going to school and with each challenge you become mature. I remember when I entered first grade I was having difficulties with reading and writing, so my teacher discussed this issue with my parents so they can work on helping me improve my reading and writing skills. When my teacher saw that I really wanted to change and I was willing to work hard for it, she helped me tremendously to achieve my goal. I remember spending eight hours a day studying and my dad would always bring something new that would help me learn better. Additionally, I remember that sometimes I would spend lunch breaks with my teacher reading books. Since I regained my confidence, I did not want to lose it again, so I always tried my best on everything.

Through years of hard work, it became a habit for me to prioritize the important things and to always want to do my best, which gave me courage and patience to study for long hours and to be ready for hard work, numerous classes, and a lot of homework. The experience I went through in first grade helped me overcome lots of other challenges and made me prepared to face anything. Narrative:
Challenges

I have learned a great many things from playing soccer. It has changed my entire outlook on and attitude toward life. Before my freshman year at Cool high school, I was shy, had low self–esteem and turned away from seemingly impossible challenges. Soccer has altered all of these qualities. On the first day of freshman practice, the team warmed up with a game of soccer. The players were split up and the game began. However, during the game, I noticed that I didn't' t run as hard as I could, nor did I try to evade my defender and get open. The fact of the matter is that I really did not want to receive the ball. I didn't' t want to be the one at fault if the play didn't' t succeed. I did not want the responsibility of helping the team...show more content...

All the while, I went to practice and everyday, I went home physically and mentally exhausted. Yet my apprehension prevailed as I continued to fear getting put in the game in case another player was injured. I was still afraid of making mistakes and getting blamed by screaming coaches and angry teammates. Sometimes these fears came true. During my sophomore season, my position led me to play in the varsity games on many occasions. On such occasions, I often made mistakes. Most of the time the mistakes were not significant; they rarely changed the outcome of a play. Yet I received a thorough verbal lashing at practice for the mistakes I had made. These occurrences only compounded my fears of playing. However, I did not always make mistakes. Sometimes I made great plays, for which I was congratulated. Now, as I dawn on my senior year of soccer, I feel like a changed person. Over the years, playing soccer has taught me what it takes to succeed. From months of tough practices, I have gained a hard work ethic. From my coaches and fellow teammates, I have learned to work well with others in a group, as it is necessary to cooperate with teammates on the playing field. But most important, I have also gained self–confidence. If I fail, it doesn't' t matter if they mock or ridicule me; I will simply try again and do it better. I realize that it is necessary to risk failure in order to gain success. The Get
