editor’s note

“What wakes me up every day to do what I do?” This is a question each one of us should ask ourselves often to help refresh our life’s purpose and mission. While in this world, Jesus Christ lived His life as a man on a mission (Luke 4:18). He went about teaching in synagogues, preaching the gospel of the Kingdom and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of diseases among the people (Matthew 4:23). As His disciples, our charge is to go into the whole world and preach the gospel to all the nations (Mark 16:15).

The Gospel of Christ is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians says that the Christians in Corinth were as written epistles in his heart, known and read by all men (2Corinthians 3:3). He did not need any other recommendation but the transformed lives of the people he taught the Gospel of Christ.

One important thing to note is that spreading the gospel of Christ is not limited to preaching on the pulpit on Sunday. Let whatever you do be a representative of the Gospel of Christ and what it stands for. This way, the people who watch you live your life will want to know more about your God. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

As you flip through the proceeding pages, you will encounter power filled articles written just for you with the intention that you are edified, filled with hope and encouraged. In this edition, we also share testimonies of what the Lord has done in the lives of His people in our midst.

From The Pastor’s Desk

The Bible has many teachings and lessons for us on faith and how it works. One of them compares the working of faith to that of a servant. This comparison was made by Jesus while responding to a request by His disciples following one of His teachings on forgiveness. “Show us how to increase our faith”, they requested Jesus. (Luke 17:5, NLT)

If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you!” (Luke 17:6, NLT). To help understand His response to their request on how to increase their faith, He went ahead and gave them a scenario of a master and his servant.

“When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say, ‘Come in and eat with me’? No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later.’ And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do? Of course not. In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’ (Luke 17:7-10, NLT).

In other words, your faith is like your servant. You assign it what to do because that is its duty. And when your faith has done its work, you don’t get surprised and start thanking it. No. You instead thank God who gave you the measure of faith that you started your Christian walk with (Romans 12:3, NKJV).

Are there things in your life that you would like to get done? For most of us, the answer is a loud yes; and for some of us we would like them done sooner than later. Well, your faith is waiting for you to assign it the duty of going to get those things done. You don’t have to wait any further. How do you do that? You start by filling up your heart with God’s precious promises, and speaking them out with your mouth out of the overflow from your heart. “…For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45, NKJV).

We are to use our faith in the same way we use our money. When you want a good or a service, you order for it using your money. In other words, you assign your money the duty of getting things done for you. This is the principle that Solomon got a hold of thousands of years ago when he penned down these words: “…money answers everything” (Ecclesiastes 10:19, NKJV)”

Don’t allow things in your life to go unattended to any more while your faith lies dormant in you. Now is the time for you to enter into the rest in the Word as you get your faith busy working on any and all unfinished business in your life.

prayers but she reluctantly agreed and never joined. Diana’s home cell members also invited her to be in attendance in the cell fellowships but she wasn’t interested. Aida, however was experiencing nightmares, she was being tormented by snakes. At a certain point she was sure the snakes were in the house and fear grew in her heart. She reported the matter to Diana who brought in exterminators to deal with the snakes. They didn’t locate physical snakes but went ahead to fumigate the homestead. Aida insisted that she was still seeing the snakes, this is when Diana and her family took on the matter in prayer. At this, the snakes disappeared. Aida was greatly comforted by the power of God and received salvation. Glory to God.

GLORY TO GOD

Ngobe, Makindye Sabagabbo | Habiba thanks God for the prayer of agreement. As the practice is at the ALFC home cell she attends. One day her one-year-old son Shon fell ill. They tested him and found that he had malaria which had become severe. He was admitted in the hospital. Despite being on medication his condition was still worrying as he was having seizures. Being a Tuesday, Habiba called her cell members and asked that prayers be made for her son’s health which they did. This strengthened her faith. After three days they were discharged and her son has recovered completely since then

FORWARD FLOW: INTERACTION WITH THE PROPHETIC

A Forward Flow powered by precious promises is God’s decree over the ALFC church family this year. You see, God never guesses; there is no room for error in His pronouncements. Whatever He declares, is timely, accurate and is essentially necessary for us to walk, run and fly successfully through seasons.

Forward flow, powered by precious promises is His antidote, prescription or intervention to anything that comes up against us; that’s why we need to hold on to it so dearly. It is pregnant with motion, advancement, promotion, growth and depictive of change of state; from static to active state.

God is “big” on what we are becoming and prioritizes our empowerment for transformation. We are called to become wiser, healthier, wealthier, greater thereby defying the usual status quo of stagnation. Change of state is not an option but a must for us and that is what Forward Flow is all about.

The precious promises, which is the word of God, is the driver/ prime mover in our becoming what God desires of us. These must be part of our daily spiritual diet so as to produce the spiritual health we so much need for our continued advancement, progression, promotion….!

There’s more territory to conquer, more wickedness to subdue and more shouts of victory to come. This is only possible with the forward gear (forward flow) coupled with the right fuel (precious promises) and a mind focused on victory. We should never lose sight of where we are headed!!

The Bible in Hebrews12:2 (MSG) says, keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed – that exhilarating finish in and with God – he could put up with anything along the way; cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.

A precedent has been set by our Lord Jesus Christ, the one we are called to imitate and follow. Regardless of what was before him, He never looked back but only pressed forward towards the glory that was set before him. He began and completed.

There’s a generous response of the Spirit of God towards those who choose to plug and connect with His intentions in that prophetic declaration making their lives attractive. Any interaction with this truth, is an assurance of the enablement to defy all odds along our paths as we press on towards the mark of glory. This is our operating system complete with all the tools we need to navigate the sharp bends, valleys, fires, rivers on our way to victory.

The ultimate end is for us to be established and become a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62:7). God takes the glory in all this and delights in it!!

YOUTH CORER Discipline.

Let us study the life of Joseph to understand this concept. Joseph, was a young boy when he received dreams from God of a glorious future. He was excited about their fulfillment but instead found himself as a slave in a foreign land. His own brothers, motivated by jealousy had sold him off. As he is working, temptation comes his way. His master’s wife desired to sleep with him but here was his response. There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9 NKJV) What a discipline! Maybe no one else would have ever known, maybe this act would have resulted in favor for Joseph, who knows what good would have come out of this but his heart was focused on pleasing God more than himself.

Discipline is not about who will or will not get to know, it is not about whether something adds to us or helps us get to our goal faster. It is primarily choosing God and His expectation of us over any advance, favor, promotion or elevation that comes at the price of compromising our faith. If we can only realize that our approval and sustenance is from God and not men. We will be disciplined to say “No” to things that might make the world perceive that we are making it in life yet inwardly we know we are giving in to different temptations.

The idea of making it at all costs has brought many Christians to the crossroads of compromise. For example, paying a bribe for a quick service so as to avoid a higher levy. Forgetting that it is sin against God who sees everything and not necessarily against man who might not know sometimes. We should always remember that God is very much able to take care of us and cause whatever we do to succeed. This knowledge will make discipline an easier part of our lives.
