News Lighthouse Family

Brighton Festival 2020

Lighthouse Family, one of the most successful bands of the late 90s and early 00s, return with a new studio album and tour after 18 years, with The Brighton Dome playing host on 25th February.

Established in 1967, Brighton Festival is the largest and most established annual curated multi-arts festival in England. Running from 2nd to 24th May 2020, it opens with the popular Children’s Parade, produced in partnership with Same Sky. Community and participation events will appear across the city – Our Place will continue to bring free performances and arts activities programmed by and for the communities of Hangleton and East Brighton; Young City Reads encourages school children to share their love of reading and Without Walls family friendly events will pop-up in unexpected outdoor locations.

Blue Sky In Your Head will be released on Fri 3 May on Polydor and will include all the bands classic songs remastered for the very first time to celebrate their 25-year recording history. The lead single My Salvation is a lushly melodic track every bit as good as you’d expect from the band that produced the timeless hits Lifted, High, and Ocean Drive

The Script

After 6 billion streams, 30 million single sales, 10.8 million album sales, over 12 million monthly Spotify listeners and 1.8 million ticket sales, Irish alt-pop trio The Script embark upon a new chapter with the November 8th release of their new album ‘Sunsets & Full Moons’ and will be bringing their tour to The Brighton Centre on 25th February 2020.

Having returned with the emotive, stadium-bound first single ‘The Last Time’, ‘Sunsets & Full Moons’ is the sound of The Script - Danny O’Donoghue (vocals, piano, guitar), Mark Sheehan (vocals, guitars) and Glen Power (drums) - focusing on the inclusive, uplifting songwriting that helped them become an arena-filling band with a fervent fan base the world over. In many ways, ‘Sunsets & Full Moons’ feels like a sequel to The Script’s much-loved debut album. Both albums emerged from emotionally turbulent times: O’Donoghue lost his father around the time of the release of their debut. And ten years later, he lost his mother as they worked on this album - with both his parents passing on Valentine’s Day. Naturally the songs began to reflect the band’s own personal experiences - and those are themes sure to resonate with their fans, too.

“I think it’s the most poignant record we’ve ever made,” asserts O’Donoghue. “Our music was always about being together with the audience, and writing about your own feelings, and sharing them”.

Stereophonics Stereophonics return to The Brighton Centre on 2nd March 2020 as part of their 2020 UK Arena Tour following the release of new single ‘Bust This Town’, the latest offering from forthcoming album ‘Kind’.

The Beat

Speaking on the new single, Kelly Jones says: “’Bust This Town’ is a song about escapism. Two lovers or friends or whoever you want to interpret them to be, finally find the courage to leave the small town they are stuck in and head on down the road breaking all the rules along the way. It’s the opener of side 2 of the album, with a four on the floor beat it should be a strong resident in the upcoming tour dates”.

For the first time in over twenty five years, founding vocalist Dave Wakeling will be performing as The Beat to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their jaw dropping debut album, I Just Can’t Stop. Alongside contemporaries, The Specials, Madness and The Selecter, The Beat pioneered the 2-Tone explosion that changed British pop music forever. Following the release of their three revolutionary albums, the band went on to conquer the globe and toured worldwide with acts such as The Clash, The Police, REM, Talking Heads and David Bowie.

With Kelly Jones’ trademark optimistic lyrics and rolling along on a wave of understated instrumentation, ‘Bust This Town’ is an emotive anthem for living for the moment, going with your instinct and never looking back.
