Culture Many of London’s museums and galleries are free to the public, so it’s a great day out – without the huge expense. Natural History Museum Established in 1881, this is one of the three major museums on Exhibition Road in Kensington. Spend a lazy Saturday afternoon wandering through the huge expanse of galleries and halls among the exhibitions of fossils, mummies, and dinosaurs. The Victoria and Albert Museum The V&A is the winner of the Museum of the Year 2016. Walk through galleries of textiles, fashion, photographs, paintings, jewellery, ceramics and glass. The Japanese collection is a particular favourite.
The National Gallery Next to Nelson’s Column and the fountains in Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery is home huge collections of paintings from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Tours and trails available to book through the gallery.
