Absolute Art is pleased to present THROUGH COLOR, the first solo show of Mr. Wang Yigang placed in Switzerland.

The Chinese artist with an Artistic Evolution has been pursued for over 30 years, has undertaken a work process that took him today to express the his tecnique through a chromatic abstraction effect amazing.

Absolute Art opens its exhibition space in 2015, after a long experience in the international art trade, with the intent to promote modern and contemporary art at the center of Europe.

Lugano infact, not only geographically is located in a central position with respect to Europe, but above all we could define it as the beating heart of the culture and economy of the Old Continent.

Immediately Absolute Art would not be representative of a single current or identify a new trend, but it has always focused on the quality of the works proposed, believing in art and in the artist as a mystic and visionary craftsman who produces not a good material, but the reproduction of emotions of all of us.

From the first show, in which he staged works of the second Italian war, including Fontana, Castellani, Bonalumi, Chip etc. in solo exhibitions by emerging artists already on the international market.

Wang Yigang

Wang tells his story through painting. A story made of deep wounds and aerial ecstasies. This story remains impressed in the matter of the painting, a sensitive material, mobile, malleable, soaked in the echo of the vibratory hand of the artist. A material at times dense, at other times rarefied, crossing different climes, combining clear surfaces and utter, dark depths. It is a special story, winding its way among alternating vicissitudes, inaccessible passages, areas of shade and moments of light.

Light plays a key role in this story: it combines with the material, without ever remaining infected by it, it accompanies the form and assumes it, but it preserves nothing of it.

With the changing light and its incidence the material is modified. This alternation of different states of aggregation, different chromatic intensities, different luminous phases, this changing of atmospheres, this continuous and irreversible metamorphosis of the material is the story that the painting of Wang tells.

The material of painting is colour, the chromatic paste, and while painting is no longer an objective representation, colour is no longer a medium, a tool, but it qualifies as an autonomous reality. It is a reality that the artist can practise and with which he or she can identify. Among all materials, painting is most suited to manipulation, what in power is readier to take on the impression of sensitivity, the more similar to the soul of philosophy, the wax tablet that in a state of quietness waits for the marks that memory may want to impress on it. It transmits the traces of the artist's deep compulsions live.

Pictorial material is sensitive, it holds something of the feelings, but also of the passions that lay there. And a material that has a life, ready to welcome echoes and memories.

Matter is an absolute presence, absolute present and the present is no other than a future that becomes past, "a past that was never present" (Gilles Deleuze).

Pictorial matter is an analogy with the flowing of life, with the memory of existence. In the matter of painting there are all the materials of the world and nevertheless it is other, separate material, almost flew over the heaviness of reality, to touch light and ethereal worlds, almost dreamlike. The work of Wang Yigang fits into a more general trend, to present the material of painting with its autonomous value, without forcing it to mime other materials. An interest for painting grew in Wang Yigang out of his curiosity for materials and his drive to experiment with their most hidden secrets. For Wang, painting is live material, to know, study, love and practise. It is his long association with materials to drive him toward painting, a difficult and solitary path. Wang's painting is polymaterial, made of heterogeneous materials, stratifications. In his paintings the spatial perspective has turned into a perspective of colour. The colour is intense and is the main element of this painting. The predominance of colour is a sign of painting that is born out of emotion, an operation that resolves the phase of ideation in that of execution. It is the way of doing that Wang wants to travel, with the difficult meetingclash with matter, hand-to-hand with the painting. His painting is based on the gesture, a fast gesture, mutable, varied, that is born from a deep impulse, but above all it accompanies the materials and adjusts to them. It is a fury that strikes only the field of painting and is born out of contact with the material.

Wang's works are framed abstract art and the latter incorporates in more general temptation of our century, the aspiration to make the invisible visible. Giving the invisible body is really the task of painting. In Wang matter is presented for its intrinsic value, even if it seems to establish a vague and slight analogy with another plan, even if it seems to hint at a spiritual dimension that the other hand is always implied in the abstract research.

Wang racconta la sua storia tramite la pittura. Una storia fatta di sperimentazioni, di estasi e di gioie conquistate con la forza che possiede solo colui capace di rialzarsi dopo le cadute. Questa storia resta impressa nella materia della pittura, una materia sensibile, mobile, malleabile, intrisa dall'eco della vibratile mano dell'artista. Una materia ora densa, ora rarefatta, che attraversa climi differenti, che coniuga terse superfici e abissali, oscure profondità. È una storia particolare, che si snoda tra alterne vicende, impervi passaggi, zone d'ombra e momenti di luce. La luce in questa storia ha un ruolo da protagonista: si unisce alla materia, senza mai rimanerne contagiata, accompagna la forma e la assume, ma non ne conserva nulla. Con il mutare della luce e della sua incidenza la materia stessa si modifica. Questo avvicendamento di differenti stati di aggregazione, di differenti intensità cromatiche, di differenti fasi luminose, questo mutare di atmosfere, questa metamorfosi continua e irreversibile della materia è la storia che la pittura di Wang racconta.

La materia della sua pittura è il colore, la pasta cromatica, e se la pittura non è più rappresentazione oggettiva, il colore non è più un mezzo, uno strumento, ma si qualifica come una realtà autonoma. È una realtà che Wang può praticare e nella quale può identificarsi. Tra tutte le materie, la pittura è la più disposta alla manipolazione, quella che in potenza è più pronta ad assumere le impronte della sensibilità, la più simile all'anima della filosofia, la tavoletta di cera che in stato di quiete attende i segni che la memoria vorrà imprimerle. Trasmette in diretta le tracce delle pulsioni profonde dell'artista. La materia pittorica è impressionabile, trattiene qualcosa delle sensazioni, ma anche delle passioni che vi si posano. È una materia che ha una vita, pronta ad accogliere echi e memorie. La materia è presenza assoluta, presente assoluto e il presente non è altro che un futuro che diventa passato, "un passato che non fu mai presente" come sostenne il nostro Gilles Deleuze.

La materia pittorica è in analogia con il fluire della vita, con la memoria dell'esistenza.

Nella materia della pittura ci sono tutte le materie del mondo e tuttavia si tratta di materia altra, separata, quasi volasse sopra la pesantezza della realtà, per toccare mondi leggeri ed eterei, quasi onirici.

L'opera di Wang Yigang si inserisce in una tendenza più generale, quella di presentare la materia della pittura nel suo valore autonomo, senza costringerla a mimare altri materiali. La pittura di Wang è polimaterica, fatta di materiali eterogenei, di stratificazioni. Nelle sue opere la prospettiva spaziale si è trasformata in prospettiva di colore. Il colore è intenso ed è l'elemento principale del suo mondo. Il prevalere del colore è indice di una pittura che nasce dall'emozione, di una operazione che risolve la fase dell'ideazione in quella dell'esecuzione. È la via del fare quella che Wang vuole percorrere, con il difficile incontro-scontro con la materia, il corpo a corpo con la pittura. La sua pittura è basata sul gesto, un gesto veloce, mutevole, vario, che nasce da un impulso profondo, ma soprattutto accompagna i materiali e si adegua ad essi. È un furore che investe soltanto il campo della pittura e nasce al contatto con la materia.

Le opere di Wang si inquadrano nell'arte astratta e quest'ultima si ingloba nella più generale tentazione del nostro secolo, l'aspirazione a rendere visibile l'invisibile. Dare corpo all'invisibile è proprio il compito della pittura. In Wang la materia è presentata per il suo valore intrinseco, anche se sembra istituire una vaga e leggera analogia con un altro piano, anche se sembra alludere a una dimensione spirituale che d'altra parte è sempre sottesa alla ricerca astratta.

Memories cuttings

Each frame is experience. Each canvas, every brushstroke becomes a fragment that adds to an entire life.

It is as if a part of the path could be reconstructed through the various details of a work of art. Small clippings of crystallized moments and kept in a perennial memory.

Framework after painting, experience after experience, everything sums up to shape what can be called existence.

From a window like an open window from which to look out to see and relive that exact moment, as a picture, as a memory, as a filter and a passage that allows you to return to that moment, that day, to those feelings lived. Here lies and is defined as the aesthetics of Wang Yigang, in that subtle interstice where imperceptible impressions are hidden, where one tries to give space also to the most delicate and impalpable traces. To try to cross it Yigang chooses painting, a material that can take any form, to become anything, the most ductile. Matter that, in power, can aspire to infinite possibilities by shaping up to the memory of the artist and his emotions.

It's the story of a life. And sometimes it happens that the memories, the feelings are not so defined, become blurred, slowly. They can not capture completely because they are confusing. They emerge one at a time and stratify, to reconstruct all the facets of a situation, positioning next to each other for overlapping, just like Yigang's painting, colored magma sometimes stretched and sometimes creaked. The light that strikes the color blends in a single faceted reality, leaving in particular shades that are buried in memory and can not be distinguished but illuminated by others, the clearest.

Sometimes a detail is clearer, others appear far away, and it seems more and more difficult to decode it, to perceive it fully.

Do not force painting into recognizable structures means making it live by itself, not putting it in the service of a form to fill or describe but make it exist for itself.

This is what makes abstraction, overtakes reality, surpasses the familiar to tell something that goes beyond, to a further. Deconstructs reality to create a new, less profitable but perhaps deeper one. An unconscious reality that investigates the psyche and falls into the depths of memory to try to bring the past into play by approaching it.

Then here are the windows that open, which allow us and invite us to observe new worlds. Pictorial worlds, composed of moments and impressions. Slight vibrations complicated to grab during the flow of life, but trapped on a canvas that keeps its memory and intensity, giving us the chance to relive it infinite times.

Ritagli di memorie

Ogni quadro è esperienza. Ogni tela, ogni pennellata diventa un frammento che si aggiunge a un'intera vita. È come se attraverso i vari dettagli di un'opera d'arte si potesse ricostruire una parte del percorso. Piccoli ritagli di istanti cristallizzati e trattenuti in una memoria perenne.

Quadro dopo quadro, esperienza dopo esperienza, tutto si somma per dare forma a ciò che può essere chiamata esistenza.

Da quadro come finestra aperta da cui affacciarsi per vedere e rivivere quel preciso istante, a quadro come ricordo, come filtro e passaggio che permette di ritornare a quel momento, a quel giorno, a quelle sensazioni vissute. Qui si colloca e si definisce l'estetica di Wang Yigang, in quel sottile interstizio in cui si nascondono impressioni impercettibili, dove si cerca di dare spazio anche alle tracce più delicate e impalpabili.

Per provare ad attraversarlo Yigang sceglie la pittura, materia in grado di assumere qualsiasi forma, di trasformarsi in qualsiasi cosa, la più duttile. Materia che, in potenza, può aspirare a infinite possibilità

plasmandosi fino a raggiungere la

memoria dell'artista e le sue emozioni. È il racconto di una vita. E succede a volte che i ricordi, le sensazioni non siano per forza così definite, affiorino sfocate, lentamente. Non si riescono a catturare completamente perché si mostrano confuse. Emergono una alla volta e si stratificano, per ricostruire tutte le sfaccettature di una situazione, posizionandosi una accanto all'altra per sovrapposizioni, proprio come la pittura di Yigang, magma colorato a volte steso e a volte rappreso. La luce, che colpisce il colore, si fonde in un'unica realtà sfaccettata, lasciando in ombra particolari che risultano sepolti nella memoria e non si possono distinguere ma illuminandone altri, i più limpidi. A volte un dettaglio affiora più nitido, altre ci appare molto lontano, e ci sembra sempre più difficile decodificarlo, percepirne appieno il senso.

Non costringere la pittura in strutture riconoscibili significa farla vivere di per sé, non porla al servizio di una forma da riempire o descrivere ma farla esistere per se stessa. È questo che fa l'astrattismo, scavalca il reale, supera il conoscibile per raccontare qualcosa che va al di là, verso un oltre. Decostruisce la realtà per crearne una nuova, meno esperibile ma forse più profonda. Una realtà inconscia che indaga la psiche e si cala negli anfratti della memoria per cercare di far venire a galla il passato accostandolo al presente. Allora ecco che iniziano ad aprirsi quelle finestre, che ci permettono e ci invitano a osservare mondi nuovi. Mondi pittorici, composti da istanti e impressioni. Lievi vibrazioni complicate da afferrare durante lo scorrere della vita, ma intrappolate su una tela che ne conserva il ricordo e l’intensità, offrendoci la possibilità di riviverle infinite volte.

B: Good morning Professor Wang, your works are produced at different times and with different styles, during your school period you had chosen contemporary artists from the period of your youth as examples of study,what was your purpose and what were your thoughts ?

W: Really a long time ago I had already started to study Picasso, and before going to college I had noticed the works of Cézanne in the 80's I think the works of Cézanne has a very strong personality, for it was the beginning of the period of reform and the opening of the mentality, I always thought that art should be something different, like Cézanne, van Gogh, Gauguin, they have expressed them.

At the beginning the feelings were not clear as now, only that I felt the power of something hitting me in the work of Cézanne. Personally, I think the Picasso sucess is based mainly on the cubism period, he gave importance to modernist works by exploring the visual psychology and the development of artistic language.

Paris show 2016 Looking back in time, the works of Picasso are the most original of all, and these works are also a foundation of its growth. Subsequently, there were some changes in the work as the beginning of mixing between classicism and modernism with the creation of ceramics. Cubism and the two-dimensionality of Picasso made a huge impact in his drawing.

The period when I was in school was a fairly difficult time because my thinking and that of teaching at the university was almost contradictory. The primary reason is that there is considerable tension between the artistic vision and the education of Supai. The Supai Education has formed a hard teaching model in China. The Soviet education is not bad, the Soviet art expression and realism have almost the same style, in a certain sense have had a great influence and success, but as the basis for the whole art education is a problem because the style is not universal.

W: the truth is the artist's life is always a continuous experiment, sometimes passive and active times, we will always try of ways to create and to free the spiritual pleasure.

As if they were elementary school children who write sentences of poetry, all of which require the preliminary formation of expression, as well as the forecast will affect many things. For me culture is not timed, I like classical, I like the abstract, like buildings, like the pictures, the art remains the same. You can listen to mozart, chopin, but madonna, jackson or before them the beatles and the black rap because from the point of view of artistic and spiritual art remains the same, high-level things are all good, they are just beautiful in different points of view.

The early 1990s, I was one of the first to do solo exhibition of abstract works from the Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum of Fine Arts Gallery.

I could draw back in abstract painting without obstacles, when I want to do it, since the emotional needs is getting closer and closer to the abstract, we try to find something more free closer to the spirit of personal emotional thing, you try to search something freer, closer to their emotions. In life we have ​ so much freedom, this freedom and I find it in art, in the process of graffiti, in fact I get the release mentally, and it is the request for the psychological and physical needs.

If you really had to say one motivation, life is not perfect, is related to the study of Zen in China, everything is going on, to do something for good or for evil does not have much sense, what makes sense is the process of do a certain thing, during the process you can try the moments, is a temper, but it is also a call for responsibility towards themselves: what is the meaning of life? B: in the northeast of the artists are influenced by expressionism, what do you think?

W: Expressionism in Chinese art has always been a problem because you have the fear to confront and criticize the society. Instead expressionism Western has always addressed the issue of dealing with life after the First World War appear the themes of pain, of fear, of war, of life's problems and confusion. The Chinese expressionism took a cue from the West only the method and model types but has absolutely detected and denounced the issues of the company's issues as it was done with the Expressionists.

B: you are going to sort all these ideas about art? What are your plans for the future?

W: in rearrange ideas, I do not care at all because that is the task of a theoretical / speaker. I need only move forward improving myself. If you really love art, we must commit ourselves wholeheartedly in what it consists, art connects with real life: you have to live in an artistic way and live as an artist.

B: salve professor Wang, le tue opere sono prodotte in diversi periodi e con stili diversi, durante il tuo periodo scolastico avevi scelto gli artisti contemporanei al periodo della tua adolescenza come esempi di studio, qual era stato il tuo scopo e quali erano i tuoi pensieri?

W: in realtà, tanto tempo fa, avevo già iniziato a studiare Picasso, e negli anni '80, prima di andare all'università, avevo notato le opere di Cézanne. Secondo me le opere di Cézanne hanno una personalità molto forte, poiché era il periodo iniziale della riforma e della apertura di mentalità. Ho sempre pensato che l'arte debba essere qualcosa di diverso, così come Cézanne, Van Gogh , Gauguin hanno espresso le loro.

Mostra xi'an Cina 2016 Personalità, le loro ragioni e le loro emozioni nelle loro opere, quindi quando ho iniziato a disegnare mi sono immedesimato in loro studiando le loro tonalità di colori, le loro regolarità delle forme e la fugacità delle immagini. All'inizio i sentimenti non erano chiari come ora, sentivo soltanto la potenza di qualcosa che non riuscivo ancora a comprendere ma che mi colpiva nelle opere di Cézanne. Poi ho scoperto ciò che rendeva le loro opere così speciali: erano la prospettiva lineare, con il ritmo visivo, con la sezione dello spazio e con l'equilibrio visivo.

Mostra Corea 2017 All'inizio non sapevo che ci fosse uno stretto rapporto tra Picasso e Cèzanne , però nel momento in cui ho studiato le ultime opere non finite di Cézanne, sopprattutto quelle che aveva lasciato in matita , e dopo aver visto le opere di Picasso, sembra quasi che

soprattutto Picasso abbia continuato e completato lo stile di Cézanne, entrambi si focalizzano sull'ordine e sul linguaggio visivo.

Personalmente, penso che il sucesso di Picasso si basa sopprattutto sul periodo cubista, ha infatto dato importanza alle opere moderne grazie all'esplorazione della psicologia visiva e dello sviluppo del linguaggio artistico.

Mostra Parigi 2016 Guardando al passato, le opere di Picasso sono le più originali di tutte , anche perchè sono un fondamento della sua crescita. Successivamente , ci furono dei cambiamenti nel suo lavoro, ad esempio l'alternarsi tra il classicismo e modernismo con la creazione della ceramica. Il cubismo e la bidimensionalità di Picasso ebbero un effetto enorme nelle sue opere.

Gli anni in cui frequentavo l'Università era un periodo abbastanza difficilein quanto il mio pensiero e quello dell'insegnamento era quasi contraddittorio. La ragione principale è che vi era una notevole tensione tra la visione artistica e l'educazione di Supai.

L'educazione di Supai ha formato un modello d'insegnamento rigido in Cina.

L'educazione Sovietica non è male, l'espressione dell'arte Russa e il realismo hanno quasi lo stesso stile, in un certo senso hanno avuto una grande influenza e successo.

Purtroppo impostarla come base per tutta l'istruzione dell'arte è sicuramente riduttiva in quanto lo stile non è mai universale.

Mostra Bonn 2017 A causa della discrepanza tra il mio pensiero e quello dell'istruzione sul realismo, io disegnavo in maniera differente anche perchè in tal modo cercavo di esprimere un minimo di significato per questa lotta.

Successivamente, quando studiai il modernismo, lo intrappresi con una grande fatica.

Fortunatamente spesso riuscii a trasformare questa fatica in una forza incoraggiante proprio come una motivazione per combattere un sistema molto rigido.

B: dopo aver sperimentato un lungo periodo di esplorazione e di pratica, lo stile del suo lavoro passa dalla forma astratta a quella della dottrina del crepuscolo, qual è la motivazione che ha portato questo cambiamento?

W: "Abuso" questo concetto dovrebbe essere il mio pensiero momentaneo. Comporre opere astratte e manifestare questi turbamenti per troppo tempo porta allo sfinimento.

Inoltre in questo modo nascono anche dei dubbi su se stessi.

C'è anche una correlazione tra l'arte astratta e la realtà, e, talvolta le storie di vita possono essere più interessante delle cose che si notano soltanto con l'immagine visiva.

A quel tempo avevo disegnato un sacco di cose relative al pop e al commercio, ad esempio detersivi, cosmetici, maschere facciali e simili, e più tardi immagini di abusi visti da internet. Il contenuto non ha importanza ma l'importante è il significato che ha al suo interno. Oggigiorno è l'era di internet, si guardano le immagini, ci si comunica e si fa shopping attraverso internet, ogni giorno c'è una grande quantità di informazioni. Più in generale

c'è la duplicazione e replicazione delle immagini, in particolare siamo

costantemente influenzati dall'integrazione globale. In quest'epoca di consumismo, dove anche la società è consumata e noi stessi siamo consumati allo stesso tempo, decidiamo di acquistare determinate cose in base alla catena alimentare. Consumismo nonsignifica che possiamo consumare ciò che ci pare, ma l'essere umano rientra in una catena già istituita. Purtroppo l'atteggiamento dei consumatori è già stato imposto dalla socità consumistica e le scelte dell'individuo non sono più libere.

B: dopo la serie di opere della dottrina crepuscolare, la sua pratica creativa ritorna di nuovo nel contesto astratto, le opere hanno un forte spirito di sperimentazione, questa trasformazione potrebbe essere considerata come un ritorno della passione?

W: in realtà la vita dell'artista è sempre una sperimentazione continua, a volte passiva e a volte attiva. Noi artisti cercheremo sempre dei modi per creare e per liberare il piacere spirituale. Come se fossimo bambini delle elementari che scrivono frasi di poesia, tutto ciò richiede però una formazione preliminare d'espressione e in questo modo l'insegnamento influenzerà su molte cose. Per me la cultura non si deve suddividere in periodi storici. Mi piace il classico, mi piace l'astratto, mi piacciono le costruzioni, mi piacciono le immagini. L'arte rimrrà sempre comunque la stessa. Si può ascoltare Mozart, Chopin, ma anche Madonna, Jackson o i Beatles e il Rap nero perché dal punto di vista artistico e spirituale l'arte non varia, le cose di alto livello sono sempre positive, varia solo il punto di vista.

I primi anni '90, sono stato tra i primi a fare mostre personali di opere astratte presso l'Accademia Centrale di Belle Arti del Museo di Fine Arts Gallery.

Potrei creare nuovamente opere astratte senza ostacoli, dato che i bisogni emozionali si avvicinano sempre di più all'astratto, cercando di trovare un qualcosa di più libero e più vicino allo spirito. Tentando di cercare qualcosa di più libero, più vicino alle proprie emozioni. Nella vita non abbiamo così tanta libertà, e io questa libertà la trovo nell'arte , nel processo dei graffiti infatti ottengo la libertà mentalmente , ed è la reale necessità psicologica e fisica.

Se davvero dovessi dare una motivazione direi che la vita non è perfetta. È in relazione allo studio della disciplina zen cinese, tutto è in corso, fare una cosa per bene o per male non ha tanto senso, ciò che ha senso è il procedimento per raggiungere un determinato obiettivo. Durante il percorso si possono sperimentare diverse emozioni, una sorta di temperamento e anche una richiesta di responsabilità verso se stessi: qual è il senso della mia vita? Qual è l'importanza della pittura? Con il procedere del tempo, sperimentando diversi passaggi si è felici, quindi, per me la pittura è importante come percorso non tanto per raggiungere un fine.

B: nel nord-est gli artisti vengono influenzati dall'espressionismo, lei cosa ne pensa?

W: l'espressionismo in arte cinese è sempre stato un problema perchè si ha la paura di affrontare e criticare la società. Invece l'espressionismo occidentale ha sempre affrontato il tema di affrontare la vita, dopo la prima guerra mondiale appaiono le tematiche del dolore, della paura, della guerra, dei problemi della vita e della confusione. L'espressionismo cinese prese spunto da quello occidentale per il metodo ed i tipi di modello ma non ha assolutamente rilevato e denunciato i problemi delle tematiche della società come lo si faceva con gli espressionisti. Serve quel poco di coraggio, e questo rileva anche che gli artisti cinesi hanno il cuore fragile, non possono far altro che ritirarsi e fare cose carine.

B: lei ha intenzione di riordinare tutte queste idee sull'arte? Che progetti ha per il futuro?

W: nel riordinare le idee, non m'interessa affatto perchè quello è il compito di un teorico/ oratore. Mi serve solo andare avanti migliorando me stesso. Se si ama davvero l'arte, bisogna impegnarsi con tutto il cuore in ciò che si compone, l'arte si collega con la vita reale: bisogna vivere in modo artistico e vivere come un artista.
