Flood in Jammu & Kashmir

Herculean efforts by Indian Army, Air Force in rescue and relief operations Massive rescue and relief operations were underway in Jammu and Kashmir to rescue millions of people trapped in flood-ravaged areas, with IAF choppers and transport aircraft undertaking non-stop sorties to carry men and relief material to submerged parts. Rescue teams were focusing on the inundated city of Srinagar and South Kashmir belt where an estimated 400,000 people were believed to be trapped in floods which have claimed over 200 lives in the state.
