What are the properties of Borosilicate Glass? Borosilicate glass is a form of glass that contains silica and boron trioxide as its major ingredients. Borosilicate glasses have much lower thermal expansion coefficients than most common glasses (3 106 K1 at 20 °C), making them very resistant to thermal shocks. Such glass is less thermally stressed and can sustain temperature differences of up to 165°C (297°F) without cracking.
