A suspected Taliban suicide bomber in a car detonated a bomb close to minibuses taking Supreme Court staff home in the Afghan capital Kabul on Tuesday, killing at least 17 people and wounding almost 40, police said. It was the second large-scale attack in Kabul claimed by the group in two days. PAGE 04
Two Indian aircraft on Tuesday violated Pakistan’s airspace and stayed there for about two minutes. The aircraft had intruded four kilometres into the Head Sulemanki and fled when two PAF fighter jets approached them. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the energy situation which lasted for over three hours at the Prime Minister’s Office. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed. The Sindh Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution which calls for making DNA tests mandatory in rape cases. The resolution was tabled by PPP MPA Sharmila Farooqi. Per the resolution, DNA tests would be mandatory in all rape cases, the costs of which will be supported by the Sindh government. PAGE 02
Extortion from traders and businessmen in Karachi has become order of the day, and now criminals have even started extorting bhatta from foreign officials. On May 28, Honorary Consul General of Canada Behram D Avari received a text message from a criminal group who claimed to be associated with Lyari Gang War and demanded Rs 5 million in extortion money.
