U S E U M THE THESIS

The aim of the project is to create a museum for children through an architecturally bread activity platform for exploring, education, exhibiting and preserving art for the public. Also to incorporate Children’s Biennale.

The approach to the planning of design is based on the concept of interactivity.

This project is a hypothetical project which is located in willingdon Island, Kochi.

Concept The design concept is microscopic design methodology whichis achieved by peeping deep into the aspect, which is more related to the children through interactivity. Like: Human body (how’s their behavior, movement, tactile, etc) Nature (connection between human and nature) Material (various materials and how to collaborate it)

The project is conceived as a simple and singular geometry shape; aimed to provoke a sense of curiosity with its minimal volume. The deisng introduces the buildings defining playful quality with the use of figural windows, all irregular in their collective layout and propotions.

The palatte is very nuetral except for the bit of colour used to attract the children. The architecture would bring the light and the aire and then become the canvas for the learning tools, toys, and the children themselves would bring in the colour.

OSPITAL STUDIO PROJECT

The aim was to design a hundred bedded multi speciality hospital in Ahalia complex, India.

The approach to the planning of design is based on the concept of Adaptable Modularity. Adaptable Design is a acheived by incorporating flexible design which is adaptable to the surroundings.

Modularity is acheived by bringing in modular design incorporating grid pattern for a strong building layout.

This design is proposed in Ahalia Campus Palakkad, in India. The site is surrounded Ahalia Eye hospital, wind mill, paddyfields and a vacant land.

Concept

The Blocks are arranged according to the contours and forms a triangular plan with courtyards in between incorporating a healing environment for hospitals such as nature friendly space with courtyards and lightwells for ventilation and lighting.

The surroundings is not much disturbed and the contour is used in an adaptable manner such that it is maximum used by - placing the building accoridng to the contour to attain maximum veiws.

- utilising the basement for parking.

- Natural drainage could be acheived easily.

D O C U M E N TAT I O N STUDIO PROJECT

This is a documentation of a traditional historic building named Olapamanna Manna in Palakkad.

This was done as a teamwork to study each and every part in detail and the project was manually.

Olappamanna manna is a centre of religious activities and brought much properity to the community. The most popular form of kathakkali, namely Kalluvazhi Chitta, originated around 150 years back in Olappamanna Mana. It has a history of patronage for carnatic music for about 100 years. This documentation also brings forth the hidden and cultural side of the mana. On the basis of Sanskrit, Vedas, Melam, Thayampaka, Poetry, Literature and Social development. This tradition has been followed for many generations.

PLAN

Wooden Carvings Olappamanna mana is an ‘Ettu Kettu’ meaning eight structures are connected to form one house.

Among them, at the middle of the padnijatini, there is a pooja muri (place of worship)vand ‘nellara’(room for keeping paddy). There are two bedrooms. Thekkini and Kizhakkini are meant to receive the guests. Vadakkini is for cooking and dining.

In middle of the structure there is a central courtyard which is in rectangular shape, ‘Nadumuttam’.

The most significant feature of Olappamanna Mana is the timber detailing. Every element is different from one another and is carefully handcrafted in such a way that no detailing is similar to the other.

The intricate wood works of Olappamana Mana is priceless and contains itself the real beauty of Vernacular Architecture of Kerala.

ESIGN STUDIO PROJECT

The Urban Study included the study of the history, ecology, planning, housing and demography, activities, transporation, social and physical infrastructures.

The growth of the city form Karanji Lake to city Palace.

DESSARA GROUND DESIGN PROPOSAL An individual project proposal for the dessara ground which is a vacant land next to the city palace and an important location at the time of dessara festival.

MASTER PLAN -LAND USE The central portion of the city Mysuru was chosen for the project Urban Design. This Portion is the core of the historical evolution of this region which consist of the palaces, Dessara ground ( the major festival) and many historic buildings. The city is mainly centraly oriented.

Topography and vegetation of the city

DR MOOSA RESIDENCE A residence interior project of area 4700 sqft with single floor designed according to the clients requirement. This is a four bedroom luxury residence with luxury interior. The colour combinations surround over a bright with light colour background so that the bright colour rules over.

COMMERCIAL PROJECT Exterior Facade design

An exterior design done for a commercial project with G+3 floors. This design is incorporated as breathing skin as it inludes a play of solid and void surface.

The materials used are , CNC Boards, Cement Boards, GI pipes with Grean wall and Lightings.

A Residence design for a nuclear family with G+1 floor. This design incoperate modern design with sloping roof. The residence has good flow of light and ventilation with large windows, double height ceiling with open plan for common rooms .
