MARIPOSA
DESIGNER EDITION

Welcome to our second volume of Mariposa Magazine: Designer Edition.
I have been the business development rep for Pearl in Eastern Canada for the last 8 years. It all started with the simple act of a referral from a colleague that had worked with Pearl in the past, and the chance to join Pearl at such an opportune time allowed me to become everything I have ever wanted to be. From sales rep extraordinaire to mentor to leader, the time I have spent with Pearl has been instrumental in shaping the person and professional I am today. Sales is my purpose and my passion, and it allows me to build strong, lasting relationships and a community of my own.
When I first started working with Pearl, the eastern market was untouched. Through hard work and partnerships, I am proud to have been able to develop the entire Designer Program from the ground up!
Our designers and partners are the influencers of our brand - the ones who are making Pearl a household name. Our designers love our brand because of its unique, boutique-style qualities; brands and their clients cannot just go out and find it anywhere. Because of this, it’s no wonder that Pearl is one of the top 3 brands that this designer community continues to endorse for their projects.
The biggest success of the designer program is the community I built around the brand. Through training and development, I have been able to work with designers across Eastern Canada, and have promoted the concept of supporting each other through cooperation rather than competition. And from that cooperation, they have built a mutual love of our products, but have also gained some lasting friendships along the way.
And with that, I hope you enjoy our Designer Edition!
Thank you to our partners and contributors, we couldn’t have done this without your continued support. A special thanks to our marketing team for making the second volume of Mariposa possible!
The Pearl Designer Program is a unique, codebased referral program where designers can send their clients to our website to purchase at a discount. The designer then earns a commission on the sale which we track, and provide monthly reporting for the designer.
When we first opened the Pearl Designer Boutiques, we realized that there was a grey area in the market: designers were giving away their supplier discounts to clients while receiving nothing in return. So, we wanted to create a program that helped designers just that extra bit.
The Pearl Designer Program has helped designers —especially newer, start-up designers—by allowing them to earn more and easily sell Pearl without having to outlay capital right away. So far the program has been a great success, and it has also helped build the community of designers and partners that Pearl works with.

Vern and Marlene Harms started Creative Kitchens in 1985, since then Lisa has always been around the business. She was always interested in the building and designing that her parents did, and spent countless hours in the showroom and shop over the years.
Creative Kitchen’s goal for every design they do is to have it be aesthetically pleasing, but also functional. They start by building relationships with their clients by listening to them and allowing them to express their needs and wants.
They are very fortunate to have a client base that gives them the opportunity to design and execute so many different styles of kitchen, so they have lots of fun projects to work on! From traditional to rustic farm house, to ultra modern, it’s exciting to find out what style they will do next.
In 2021 we were fortunate enough to be part of many different projects across the country thanks to our amazing partners. One project that stood out was this full home renovation that we call “The Vancouver Special” based on its classic Vancouver build style. This 2400 square foot home was built in 1983 in the heart of the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood in Vancouver, BC.
The “Vancouver Special” house was created by drafter Larry Cudney in response to new City bylaws. At the time, people were looking for large and inexpensive homes that could house multiple generations. The style gained popularity due to its practicality and low cost. Between 1965 and 1985, most new builds in the region were “Vancouver Specials” featuring a boxy frame, low-pitch gable roof line, two floors of living space, and a shallow second-floor balcony. During this time period over 10,000 of these homes were erected. It is the only build style that was created in the Greater Vancouver region and remains prominent in the region’s landscape and architectural history.
Instead of tearing this structure down, the homeowner decided to keep the “Vancouver Special” charm and give the property a total makeover. Opting for a modern black exterior, emphasized wood balcony, and a new low-maintenance and manicured landscape, this home looks nothing like it did in 1983. Inside you will find a legal ground floor suite with two bedrooms, one bathroom and an open concept kitchen/living room floor plan. The contemporary main floor boasts 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a modern galley kitchen and an open floor plan. What makes this home especially special to us is that all fixtures are Pearl. This includes the faucets, sinks, showers, toilets, door hardware, bathroom accessories, mirrors, and even the range hood!
Over two years ago, we began working with Cosentino on their Bathroom Collection, specifically focusing on their integrated vanities. Using our expertise with sinks and plumbing fixtures alongside their amazing product, we were able to forge a strong partnership. Not only are these vanities fabricated in Spain and available in any Silestone and Dekton colour, but they are also fully customizable. They are a great product for developers, designers, and homeowners alike.
Fast forward to 2021, we developed the first stock program for these vanities. By warehousing fabricated vanities in Canada, we are able to cut the lead time down vastly from approximately 12 weeks for a custom piece, to one week for a stocked option. This also simplifies the ordering process, removing a lot of the variables from the custom product.
For our Stock Program, we curated a collection of Armony and Simplicity style vanities in set sizes and colours. Available in 6 Silestone colours and 7 Dekton colours, these vanities are perfect for any design. Their small size also makes them perfect as a centerpiece in powder rooms or as a split vanity in en suites. For a full list of products available, check out our website.
Our newest designer finish has finally arrived. This softer gold was created specifically with designers in mind. Now available for every room of your home.
These designer shapes and styles are perfect for your bathroom or your closet.
This year was filled with uncertainty and challenges. From global supply chain issues, to extended provincial lockdowns, to natural disasters, no one could have expected 2021 to pan out this way. Despite all this, thank you to all of our partners for sticking this year out with us and persevering through hard times. Together we are able to carry on providing countless families with their dream homes and renovations. Here are some of our highlights from 2021.
