Evidence For this project you were required to submit: STUDIO PRACTICE BLOG - demonstrating a range of approaches to the sourcing, collecting and responding to a breadth of primary and secondary forms of information and material. Your Studio Practice Blog should provide thorough, consistent and organised documentation of the practical, conceptual and material development of your resolved pieces. You will also need to demonstrate a range of approaches to sourcing, analysing and evaluating a breadth of contextual references appropriate to the development of your practical work. These posts should provide a provide a thorough, consistent and organised record of your research into contemporary creative practice, professional concerns and issues relating to audience, context and function.

VISUAL JOURNAL - Demonstrating your ability to develop, maintain and extend an exploration of drawing, image, format and media in response to identified visual research and thematic content.

Comments The work that you have presented demonstrates a good understanding of the relationship between content, format and the use of media. A greater level of clarity when identifying and analysing problems would have helped you to develop a more consistently informed understanding of the context of your work and appropriate methods of delivery. A more proactive approach to the conceptual development of your initial ideas should help you improve your understanding of the development of appropriate imagery..

You have demonstrated a good level of understanding when considering and selecting production methods, processes and technologies. In doing so you have demonstrated an increasingly informed investigation of the relationship between Illustration for print and screen based delivery. The organization and documentation of your work could have been more thorough. A significantly more consistent approach to the management of your time and resources would help you to develop a body of work that exploits the potential in your initial ideas to a greater extent.

The contextualization of your work is good and shows that you have used a range of research methods to gather some relevant contextual references. The limited primary and secondary source material has hindered your ability to critically evaluate your research, which, in turn has meant that some of your visual and conceptual decisions have been ill informed. A much broader range of contextual references would help you to develop a far deeper understanding of the contexts in which work could operate.

You have demonstrated a level of practical investigation into print and screen based processes, techniques and technologies that would have benefited from a greater level of focus. Your practical research is good and demonstrates some understanding of design for cross media delivery. The resulting design development and resolution is of a good standard and reflects a level of production knowledge that requires further investigation if you wish to capitalize on this in future modules.

The visual quality and technical competence demonstrated in your work is good. You have shown an ability to explore technical processes and select media that could have been applied more consistently to solving visual problems. As a result your outcomes demonstrate some understanding of the relationship between the practical and conceptual skills that you have developed during this module. A good demonstration of production knowledge is supported by ongoing but inconsistent practical investigation.

The presentation of your work is good and demonstrates some awareness of the professional approach to the documentation, evaluation and communication of your work. You should aim to develop a higher level of visual and written communication in order to further develop a higher standard of work.

The screenprints produced for this Module are an interesting investigation of the novel and are well drawn and printed. The ideas came through stepping aside from the text and generating some outcomes which are critically and conceptually interesting.

Animation production seemed to have been less easy technically, though again, the ideas are interesting. Visual journal investigation and wider research into the Illustration discipline would help you to increase the depth, complexity and potential audience for your work. Keep up visual journal investigation through the next Module and keep up your drawing skills / perhaps continue to investigate the successes you found in print.

Have a good search through the drawing section in the library, looking at books such as “Vitamin D” and “The Drawing Book” and identify practitioners of interest.
