Information On Magazine Publishers IPC Media IPC Media is a magazine publishing brand which has been branded as being the biggest-selling consumer magazine publisher in the United Kingdom. With sales of over 350 million copies a year, IPC Media (Owned by American magazine publishing company TimeInc.) publishes many of the UK’s strongest, and oldest magazine brands, and supplies 55 magazine brands. IPC Media’s magazines display an array of different topics and content, appealing to many different audiences, however the main predominant target audience being women as just under 2 thirds of all UK woman regularly read IPC Media brands. These can be separated into 2 categories. Upmarket women, which concentrates on leisure brands such as Look, Now, Chat and women, as well as TV brands like, What’s on TV, and, TV Times, as well as Mass market women, which focuses on luxury fashion brands like Marie Claire, InStyle and life-style brands such as Woman&Home, and Essentials. Men can also be seen as a large part of IPC Medias audience, with just over a third of all UK men reading an IPC brand magazine. These include many leisure brands such as Country Life, Rugby World, Mouse Breaker, and popular music magazines NME and Uncut. As well as selling magazines, IPC Media also owns many multi-platform products, including many websites which are accessed by 25 million global users each month.

Bauer Media Bauer Media is a European-based multi-platform media company, based in Hamburg, Germany, which focuses around two main formats, Magazine and Radio. Bauer manages more than 600 magazine brands, over 400 digital products and 50 radio and TV stations around the world, and employs approximately 11,000 employees in 17 countries, Passed down through five generations of the Bauer family and starting out as a small printing house in Germany, Bauer Media first came to the UK with the launch of popular Women’s life-style magazine ‘Bella’ in 1987. Under the name of H Bauer Publishing they became Britain's third largest publisher selling around 35 million magazines a year. Today Bauer Media includes many different influential brand names, which disperse over a wide range of interests. This includes, Heat, MATCH!, Parkers and Car. Bauer Media also caters for many different target audiences. Foe women, there is magazines such as Closer, GRAZIA, and Top Sante, which are real life, and fashion and beauty magazines, as well as magazines for parents such as Mother & Baby, and Pregnancy &Birth. Men are a large part of Bauer’s audience, with the popular mens life-style magazine FHM being the UK’s biggest men’s life-style media brand. Bauer Media also publishes some of the most popular music magazines in the UK such as Q, Mojo and KERRANG!, which appeals to a mainly teenage audience.


Conde Nast With more than 164 million consumers across its 20 print and digital media brands, Conde Nast is a mass media company based at One World Trade Center in New York. Conde Norst was founded in 1909 by Condé Montrose Nast and has been owned and operated by the Newhouse family since 1959. Brands sold by this company include; Allure, Architectural Digest, Ars Technica, Bon Appétit, Brides, Condé Nast Traveller, Details, Epicurious, Glamour, Golf Digest, Golf World, GQ, Lucky, The New Yorker, Pitchfork Media, Self, Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, Vogue, W and Wired. These magazines display many different topics and genres, which results in a wide target audience being covered. For example, magazines such as Vogue and Allure are women’s fashion and beauty magazines that would appeal to a more mature audience between the ages of about 25-35, whereas the magazine Teen Vogue would appeal to a teenage audience, and brands like Gold Digest, and music magazine Pitchfork Media would appeal to a more male audience. Conde Nast has many online websites for their magazines, where consumers can find information about the magazine brands available, and as well as this apps have also been produced for many of their brands, such as Vogue, Self, Wired and Glamour.
