Our Beds

ARE HOME-GROWN Naturally fine, sumptuously comfortable, only the best fillings are selected for our beds. To meet our exacting standards for quality there was only one option – we had to grow them ourselves.

At our farm in North Yorkshire that’s exactly what we do. Here we rear Texel, Mule, Suffolk and Zwartbles sheep, which supply us with pure-grade wool for our fillings; wool that is among the thickest, strongest and softest you’ll find in a mattress.

Our natural fillings are supported by award-winning spring technology.

Layers of innovative spring systems work against the settlement of the fillings, so that your Bespoke Collection mattress retains its shape throughout the lifetime of the bed.

We also grow flax and hemp. Flax, which is used to make linen, is three times stronger than cotton, with unique properties that keep you cool and fresh. Hemp is a carbon-neutral crop, carefully nurtured without the use of pesticides. In fact, all of the fillings in the Bespoke Collection are naturally sourced, from mohair and wool through to the finest Egyptian cotton. In addition to providing superlative support, they wick away moisture and promote the circulation of air, keeping you fresh and dry as you sleep.

Growing fillings on our farm takes time and commitment, but we believe that it’s worth the effort.

By growing our own, we can have complete confidence that the hemp, flax and wool we produce is of the highest quality and ideally suited for use as a mattress filling. We also take great comfort from knowing that everything that goes into our luxurious beds is as sustainable as possible, with minimal impact on the environment. This helps us, and you, rest easier.

LUXURIOUS INGREDIENTS When we create a Bespoke Collection bed we only use the finest natural ingredients, each one helping to achieve the ideal balance of comfort and support. It’s the perfect recipe for a truly indulgent night’s sleep.

Mohair Softer and smoother than wool, mohair's fine silk fibres give it a luxurious feel.

Flax Linen fibres are produced from flax, which is why we grow it on our farm. It’s a strong, light and sustainable material that creates a breathable, organic filling inside our mattresses.

Viscose Often through as a man-made fibre, viscose is a cellulose derived from the wood pulp of eucalyptus, beech and pine trees. Versatile and lightweight, viscose blends well with other fibres.

Being breathable and highly absorbent, helping you have a fresh night’s sleep.

Hemp Grown completely naturally and without pesticides, the hemp plant absorbs carbon dioxide and thus helps reverse climate change.

When blended with other organic fibres it becomes stronger and more durable. But the real beauty is that it’s absorbent, yet naturally resistant to mildew, which keeps beds fresh and hygienic.

Natural Latex Produced using sap from the rubber tree. Latex has unique antibacterial properties, making it ideal for allergy sufferers, along with being soft, springy and supportive.

Silk Silk is the strongest natural fibre there is. It has a soft and luxurious feel and creates the most sumptuous of fillings.

Kapok Known more often as ‘tree silk’ this light and lustrous fibre is obtained from the seed pods of the Kapok tree. Kapok helps to regulate your body temperature and is remarkably strong and super soft.

Wool Soft, springy and naturally supportive. Wool keeps you warm and dry and helps to regulate body temperature. It’s also anti-bacterial and, as it’s inherently fire-retardant, there’s no need to use chemicals in any of our beds.

Alpaca Naturally hypoallergenic, due to containing no lanolin. Alpaca has excellent moisture wicking properties, and is inherently softer and warmer than sheep’s wool with the luster of silk.

Cotton Soft and absorbent, cotton’s wicking properties help keep you dry and cool.

Egyptian Cotton The king of cottons. Softer and longer, its superfine strands are perfect for wicking away moisture.

Cashmere The double coat of Cashmere goat is both soft and smooth, along with being highly resilient.

While the outer layer is durable, the fine softy under down is lighter and more insulating than other wools.

Inside every Revolution pocket spring system there are two springs that work as one. It’s a unique system with a small spring sitting inside a larger one, offering two levels of firmness. This gives you variable levels of support depending on your weight, and ensures you always maintain the best posture.

The most luxurious models in the Bespoke Collection feature ‘nested’ Revolution springs. They nestle neatly together without spaces.

This creates more points of contact with your body, relieving pressure and promoting a more comfortable night’s sleep.

The HD spring is a world first. Made with our lightweight titanium alloy.

Smaller in diameter and height than a standard spring, they are highly flexible and work completely independently of one another. The three-dimensional support adjusts precisely to your body’s contours, relieving pressure on your joints and offering increased lumbar support.

These flexible miniature springs also help the mattress retain its shape over the lifetime of the bed.

Airflow Airflow does exactly what its name suggests, channeling air through the mattress fillings and directing it to the surface. This, along with special air vents, helps the mattress to breathe, keeping the fibres fresh and dry whatever the season.

Microlution Springs Representing the latest in mattress spring technology. These small and supremely resilient springs are comprised of a tall mini spring enclosed within a High Density (HD) spring. Contouring to your body, the thousands of springs in each layer keep your spine in alignment and help to reduce pressure points.

ENSURES THE CORRECT SPINAL ALIGNMENT Whether you are standing up or lying down your spine always needs to be aligned. A straight spine puts less strain on your hips and shoulders.

Our Revolution pocket spring system ensures you always have the correct spinal alignment. What’s more, the varying tensions in the spring help to achieve three different levels of support: gently supportive, medium support and firm support. Which you choose is up to you.

However, since no two spines are the same, we make beds that are tailored to you and adapt to the contours of your body. This helps keep your spine aligned no matter what your sleeping position.

To suit the needs of you and your partner, we can even tailor each side of the same mattress to a different level of firmness.

A total of three spring systems – Revolution, Microlution 5000 Airflow springs and HD lightweight titanium alloy springs – combine to cradle your body and reduce pressure on your joints as you sleep. The Kinnard has four rows of side-stitching.

TRUE EDGE BASE Exclusive to Harrison, True Edge uses a combination of a row of springs on the outer edge of the mattress and a strong supportive timber perimeter to the pocket sprung base; this delivers comfort and support in the sleeping areas as well as durability to the hard working sides of the bed.

In line with our ethical approach to bed manufacturing all the wood used in our divan bases and headboards comes from FSC-accredited forests. Because sustainability is at the heart of Harrison Spinks, the company own their own responsibly managed forest in Yorkshire, where the timber harvested and felled goes into the construction of the luxury divan bases. By sourcing wood locally we are able to lower our carbon footprint.

CLEANING THE EASY WAY At Harrison we understand that your bed will go through a lot during its life. It’s for that reason that we wanted to provide you with a solution to keep it in pristine condition. Introducing Aqua Clean.

Aqua Clean provides a protective layer enabling you to simply wipe away any marks or stains using a few droplets of water.

Using a damp cloth you can remove accidental marks from your headboard and divan base. Fabrics that have been treated with Aqua Clean allow you to clean away ink, shoe polish, coffee and even scuff marks.

Harrison Spinks is a fifth-generation family owned and run business dating back to 1840 and is one of Great Britain’s most established and innovative bed makers. It is the most vertically integrated bed manufacturer in the world, from drawing its own wire and manufacturing patented pocket springs, to weaving ChemFRee fabric for its mattresses and growing natural fillings on its own 300-acre farm in Yorkshire.
