The Power of Mentorship: Guiding Our Youth Toward Success
By Jonathan D Jackson Sr
In a world that often pushes young people to figure things out alone, AUS mentoring offers something different guidance, support, and the belief that success is not just a dream but a plan to SOAR As a mentor, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be when young men and women are given a safe space to talk, ask questions, and build their future with someone in their corner.
Mentoring goes beyond giving advice it’s about walking beside our scholars every step of the way Whether it’s helping with work permits so they can earn their first paycheck, arranging college visits to help them envision their next chapter, or organizing field trips that connect learning to real life, the goal is always the same: to open doors and expand possibilities.
One of the most important aspects of this work is the one-on-one time I get with students (see page 2)

daily These scholar discussions are where growth truly begins We talk about life, goals, challenges, choices and how to overcome the barriers they are facing Sometimes it’s about academics, other times it’s about confidence or direction But every conversation matters These talks build trust, self-awareness, and a clearer vision of the future.
To every young person reading this: You don’t have to do it all on your own There are people ready to support you, challenge you, and cheer you on Success starts with showing up, asking for help, and staying committed I’m here to help you take those steps and I believe in where you’re going and your ability to make your dreams reality
