Ecosystem Project Youth Fusion With Justine Bouliane-Gagnon Children from grades 4-5 were asked to design an intervention in their schoolyard. With early discussions the children chose to focus their design-build on biodiversity and recycling. After many sessions, we were able to draw plans with the children and decide on the species to accommodate and promote. The final design is located on a longitudinal plot in the front of the school. It is a discovery nature path that houses insects and feeds birds and pollinators, thus the path is divided into two sections. The insect hotels double as furniture and information markers. The realization of this project was postponed due to Covid-19.

In order to reduce collisions with glass the bird area is further away from the building. A variety of bird feeders are available to the different bird species as well as fruits from planted bushes.
The path is bordered by a selection of native plants that attract insects, mainly pollinators. Insect hotels are also scattered next to the plants to provide shelter for specific species.
