East Herts Lottery helps good causes raise much-needed funds
East Herts Lottery helps local charities, school PTAs, voluntary organisations, sports clubs and community groups generate extra funding.
Since the lottery’s launch in 2019, over 160 local causes across East Herts have registered to take part. Between them, they have generated more than £160,000 in fundraising income.

The lottery helps a very wide range of not-for-profit organisations including Bengeo Tigers Football Club, Acehounds Friendship Dogs and Bishop’s Stortford Hockey Club.

Tickets cost £1 and half of the ticket price goes straight back to the good cause chosen by the player. There is a draw every Saturday with prizes starting at £25. Match all six numbers and you win the £25,000 jackpot! Ticket sales also help the wider East Herts community as 10p of every £1 ticket sale goes to East Herts Council’s Community Fund which distributes discretionary community grants.

Cllr Jonathan Kaye, Executive Member for Communities at East Herts Council, said: “Given the current economic situation, many not-for-profit organisations are struggling to raise funds. East Herts Lottery continues to be an effective and straightforward way to do this while giving supporters the chance to win a cash prize.
“In addition, the East Herts Community Fund gives much-needed support to a wide range of community groups and local organisations. To date, over £35,000 has been generated through the lottery and distributed across the district.” Recipients of Community Fund grants in recent years include Bishop’s Stortford Lifesaving Club, Sawbridgeworth Allotment Association, Three Villages Magazine (Great Amwell, Stanstead Abbotts and St Margarets) and Stortford Musical Festival.
