A Hertford-born author has just had his latest novel published – the fourth in his critically-acclaimed mystery series set in the beautiful Italian city of Bologna. Tom Benjamin, who was educated at The Broxbourne School and Hertford Regional College, also used to work as a journalist on the Hertfordshire Mercury before becoming a media spokesman for Scotland Yard. He moved to Bologna 15 years ago where he first came up with the idea for the British-born private detective Daniel Leicester who has been the main character in his books. His first three books in the series, all published under Little, Brown’s Constable imprint, are A Quiet Death in Italy, The Hunting Season and Requiem in La Rossa.
The fourth book, which was published last month, is called Italian Rules.

Italian Rules is available in paperback (£9.99) from bookshops and online and also as an ebook.
