Carnival
Parade and Fun Day takes centre stage this month, with the market town coming together in traditional fashion to celebrate in the streets and on Sworders Field on Saturday 17th June.

The theme this year is ‘The 80s’ and there are two parts to the day – the first being a traditional carnival parade through the streets featuring floats from local organisations and businesses, and local people are encouraged to line the streets to support those taking part.

The parade departs South Mill Arts in South Road at 11.30am and processes through South Street, Potter Street, Market Square, North Street and Northgate End, finishing on Link Road at around 12.30pm.
By the time the parade reaches its destination, the fun on Sworders Field will be in full swing, having started at 12noon. Between then and 5pm there will be a variety of stalls open, selling food, drink and other products, as well as two arenas of entertainment featuring a wide range of visiting attractions as well as great local talent.
Entertainment will include 80s classics from the band The Jjarrs and BMX displays, while there will also be performances from Be Entertained, The Slackline School, Tracey Walker School of Dance, Grove Cottage, Bishop’s Stortford Ukulele Society, Woodwind of Stortford and Bishop’s Stortford Rock Band and Rock Choir. The event is organised by Bishop’s Stortford Town Council.
