Paul Mooney, who has been the estate’s passionate winemaker since 1979, crafts a wide range of classic red and white varietals characterised by purity of flavour, finesse and delicacy. Paul imparts the very essence of Mission’s French heritage winemaking philosophy into both its Hawke’s Bay and its Marlborough wines.
Mission Estate is considered a guardian of the missionaries’ heritage and land, and for more than 20 years it has been proud to be a founding member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand.
In 1998, it was also one of the first wineries in New Zealand to be certified with the internationally recognised environmental management system ISO 14001. Both certifications represent Mission’s ongoing commitment and dedication to minimising its impact on the environment. The vineyard produces a vast range with the lightly oaked Chardonnay (£14) and the stunning Grimblett Gravels (Hawke’s Bay) Cabernet Sauvignon (£16.50), pictured here, being among Cavavin’s favourites.

Shishbourne is a Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant on Broxbourne High Road which is open seven days a week and offers a full menu throughout the day from 12noon until closing. THE DUSTY MILLER Country pub
The Dusty Miller is a country pub and casual dining venue just outside Harlow, surrounded by countryside and close to the river. It serves freshly-cooked pub food, including a pie of the day and other pub classics, together with a good selection of gluten-free and vegan dishes.
