After being voted back in for a second time, the Bishop’s Stortford Business Improvement District (BID) starts a new five-year term from 1st April. We have exciting plans to make Bishop’s Stortford an even better place to live, work, shop and socialise. Our main focus is on marketing and promoting local shops and services; events and street entertainment; supporting town centre businesses with training and other initiatives; and ‘place making’ to improve the look and feel of the town – and to capitalise on its history. Last month we were delighted to welcome Julie Marson, MP for Hertford and Stortford, to the town centre. She enjoyed meeting businesses, seeing what’s new and receiving an update on plans for the TK Maxx store in Jackson Square.

To kick-start our new term, we’re looking forward to our first event as part of the town’s Coronation celebrations. We will be turning the high street areas red, white and blue next month to commemorate the coronation of King

Charles
On Saturday 6th May from 12noon to 6pm Bishop’s Stortford Town Council have arranged a Coronation Day of fun and entertainment in Sworders Field. There will be a DJ on the bandstand, face painting, organised games and activities, as well as a licensed bar and food from around the world from Street Food Heroes.
Then on Sunday join in with the street party atmosphere. From midday, Market Square will be a hive of activity with music and entertainment from local choirs, bands and dance groups; plus there will be free goodie bags and more. The following day is a bank holiday – a great reason to stay on for a drink or meal at one of the town’s many cafés, bars and restaurants.
