Education is vital in our industry and every role, from Porter to President, should take advantage of what AAGO has to offer. As Regional Managers and Director of Training and Talent Development, with over 49 years of combined experience in the Multi-family industry and over 30 years of combined dedication to AAGO, we believe that companies and site level management must make it a goal to invest in their teams for education opportunities through AAGO and the APASS program. These opportunities can lead to stronger teams and career advancement.
Our busy schedules, at times, can make education seem like a daunting task. We feel, as leaders, that setting goals can make this task more manageable. These educational goals can help hold individuals and companies accountable. The way to make this successful is to have clear, defined expectations of each individual’s specific goals. Once those goals are defined you must have an action plan in place to ensure you are on track.
Companies that hold their teams accountable for education shows that they are willing to invest in your future as leaders. It is equally important that you show your desire to invest in your own personal development as well. Some companies invest in education within their own organization but we feel that engagement with other industry peers can allow you to learn from different perspectives and experiences.
In most instances, education is used for future growth opportunities. Many feel that they cannot obtain the education required due to lack of company funding and investment of time. AAGO offers a wide variety of affordable educational opportunities such as APASS and in some instances, scholarships through AAGO Foundation. APASS is a “NO BRAINER” as the monetary contribution to unlimited free classes plus discounts to specialty classes is a minimal $69 per month per community. Classes are offered each month to accommodate each position within our industry.
