The highly-coordinated system of services between the family’s case manager, Project Grow, and Highland Elementary will reduce school absences while increasing promotion rates, test scores, and future high school graduation rates. The program will carefully monitor the children’s educational outcomes as well as the parents’ progress toward self-sufficiency.

Our Hope Begins with a Home Capital Campaign will raise $3,600,000 to complete construction of the fourteen apartments and the community space to develop the new Third Avenue Homes neighborhood. We will raise an additional $3,000,000 to sustain, over 12 years, all the supportive services and educational enrichments that will characterize the program. Thanks to the support of our donors, we are off to a great start and have reached over 50% of our goal. We anticipate breaking ground in the fall!

At the core of our Third Avenue Homes community is a unique and powerful partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County’s Highland Elementary School located just three blocks from Adopt-A-Family. We know from experience that students
blossom in the classroom once they are in a stable home.

Adopt-A-Family is thrilled to announce our plan to expand the agency’s inventory of affordable housing units for families on the verge of homelessness. “Third Avenue Homes” in Lake Worth will provide housing and hope for fourteen families and approximately 30 children. Our two- and threebedroom apartments, on recently acquired property adjacent to Adopt-A-Family’s Family Resource Center, will offer convenient access to our social services programs and Project Grow afterschool program. A two-story community center will serve as the hub for support services, tutoring, therapy, and adult education.

For over 30 years, Adopt-A-Family’s Tree Lighting celebration at the historic Sailfish Club of Florida has been one of the season’s most anticipated and esteemed events. The agency’s 33rd annual celebration on December 5, 2017, was no exception. The record-breaking event chaired by Miss Beth Hennessy and co-chaired by Mrs. Brenda McGarrity raised an astounding $600,000 to help local families in need. We would like to express our gratitude to the evening’s three Grand Benefactors who played an integral role in the evenings success: Linda and Edward Edelman, The Edward L. Hennessy, Jr. and Ruth S. Hennessy Foundation, and The Kyle Fraser Foundation, Inc.

Adopt-A-Family is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit, charitable organization established in 1983. Our mission is to strengthen families with children in their efforts to achieve stability and self-sufficiency by providing access to all-encompassing services.
It was a beautiful evening with many special moments, including a touching tribute to honor the life and work of our long-time supporter and friend, Mrs. Ruth S. Hennessy. Our guests were serenaded as they arrived for the evening’s cocktail reception by the talented King’s Academy choir. Pictured: Chair Beth Hennessy The silent auction once again featured the area’s largest and Co-Chair Brenda McGarrity selection of live orchids and carefully curated holiday gifts. Over a gourmet dinner, guests listened to words of gratitude from our CEO, Matt Constantine, bid on exciting live auction items, enjoyed a beautiful tribute to Mrs. Ruth S. Hennessy by her lifetime friend and committee member Mrs. Alice M. Tarone, and were brought to their feet by a client’s powerful success story. This meaningful event would not be possible without the year-round dedication of our Tree Lighting Committee members, the Grand Benefactors, our sponsors, vendors, and the guests that join us year after year. The 34th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration will take place on December 4, 2018 and we hope to see you there!

2017 HOLIDAY ROUND UP The 2017 holiday season at Adopt-A-Family was full of joy and gratitude thanks to your overwhelming generosity. Over 250 children attended Santa Shoppe. Thanks to over 70 volunteers, the children were treated to crafts, face painting, lunch, a gift from their wish list hand-delivered by Santa Claus, and the opportunity to “shop” for gifts for family members. At the Homeless Resource Center, our team offered the third annual Holiday Shop where 53 parents were able to select gifts and stocking stuffers for their children. The Holiday Adopter program paired generous businesses and individuals with 133 families who received personalized gifts and gift cards.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Adopt-A-Family was honored to be the beneficiary of the Honda Classic Cares’ holiday party where guests donated hundreds of toys. Adding to the joy of the season, the incredible women of the CouTOURe Club set up a festive jewelry shop and helped Project Grow students pick out special gifts for their moms.
4TH ANNUAL STEAM NIGHT AT PROJECT GROW Project Grow hosted its fourth annual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Night in December. Facilitated in collaboration with the South Florida Science Center and Literacy AmeriCorps volunteers, Project Grow students and their parents enjoyed exploring 20 experiential learning stations and were treated to healthy refreshments and a bike raffle. Project Grow remains committed to exposing the students to STEAM activities that provide tangible experiences to reinforce concepts taught at school and expand their minds to diverse potential career paths. Project Grow has already provided over 80 STEAM field trips and activities during the 2017-2018 school year.
EVELYN AND ARTHUR: TWO EVENTS TO BENEFIT ADOPT-A-FAMILY Evelyn & Arthur is known for supporting area nonprofits at all ten of its store locations. In the month of March, the company created two events to benefit Adopt-A-Family. On March 6th, President Adrianne Weissman and her team set up a beautiful pop-up shop at the agency and personally outfitted clients with clothing and accessories. The clients were treated to a one-on-one personal shopping experience that boosted their confidence and left each one with a smile on her face and a heart filled with gratitude. On March 16th, Adrianne hosted a shopping event at her Palm Beach Gardens store and donated a portion of the sales back to the agency. Thank you to our friends and supporters who joined us to shop for a cause. We are grateful to Adrianne and her staff for all they have done for Adopt-A-Family and the entire community.
