WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama declared Friday that America is “going to have to make some choices” balancing privacy and security, launching a vigorous defense of formerly secret programs that sweep up an estimated 3 billion phone calls a day and amass Internet data from U.S. providers in an attempt to thwart terror attacks.

He warned that it will be harder to detect threats against the U.S. now that the two top-secret tools to target terrorists have been so thoroughly publicized. At turns defensive and defiant, Obama stood by the spy See NSA, Page A2 AP Photo

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Gov. Susana Martinez on Friday unveiled a new customer service system aimed at streamlining Motor Vehicle Division services and cutting down on wait time. Speaking at a news conference inside an Albuquerque MVD branch, Martinez said the new program will give New Mexico residents a chance to express their satisfaction or dissatisfaction with services. She said the system will allow customers to give feedback at MVD customer service windows and help MVD staff develop ideas on improvements. “This new system will hold our MVD employees to a higher customer service standard,” the governor said. “And it will also immediately recognize

them for their good customer service.” Residents will be able to go to a service window and press a “smiley face” or “dissatisfaction button” to issue a complaint. An on-call manager will get an immediate email and work to resolve any issues. MVD Director Mark Williams said he hopes to have the new service up at all 33 state-run MDV offices by the end of the month. “We still have a lot of testing to do,” he said. The system has already been in placed at MVD offices in Santa Fe, Carlsbad and Albuquerque. Officials say the system is responsible for reducing wait time at the Carlsbad MVD branch — historically the branch with the

museum up to the Best Western Sally Port Inn and back a few times. UFO Museum operations manager Mark Briscoe said the museum always enjoys being a part of the Beetle event.
