Our Story

A timeline of our history AWE

African Women in Europe was founded in 2008 with the need for the founder Ms. Joy Zenz to network with other African diasporas in Germany. As more members joined with the same need the region was extended to the European area.

Now we have grown and have increased our objective to empowering women by acknowledging women and youth in Europe.

by AWE Kenyan members living in Europe to collectively invest in Africa as a group and support entrepreneurs by offering easy access to credit.

AWE Academy was created from AWE organization vision to create a pool of knowledge sharing platform, where its members in the diaspora can share their skills, knowledge and empower through professional training to the communities in Africa as well as its members.

AWE Academy has a mission to share skills and knowledge with the African community, through a wellstructured education system to empower local entrepreneurs, including youth mentorship. We aim to create a networking platform that offers opportunities to investors to connect with African business owners. We aim to reach Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Africa women in Trade

AWE Events, Webinars & Live Interviews We organize ourselves virtually throughout the year so that this amazing group of women has a forum through which to network, organize, share experiences and meet. Our main event of which we are extremely proud of is the annual conference meeting, held in the main European cities face to face. Offering Workshop and Seminar.

Such as the events that have taken place in Rome, Madrid, Paris, Berlin, UK, Switzerland, Germany, Holland. These meetings have now grown and culminate in our flagship event, the high-profile African Women in Europe Awards, which recognizes excellence, now in its 13 years, and for which we have overwhelming support.

AWE Youth Program

AWE GPS Mentoring aims to support African women/Youth residing in Europe due to relocation or education purposes. This will also include Mentoring youth in Africa in different sectors eg start-up entrepreneurship and students by bridging the gap between academic learning and workplace practices and developing soft skills and confidence.

AWE Youth Program was created to support and encourage AWE members youth to network and exchange ideas. To take up roles in the organization and to support in training.

AWE BOOKS These very special books are a celebration of the empowered African woman and men living, working, or running a business in Europe. It showcases the immerse togetherness and strength that African women in Europe share with Women in their homeland Africa.

It is written by African women (and men) who are making a difference in Diaspora and their home countries.

It covers the exchange of ideas, sharing experiences, and empowering each other. It is the brainchild of the founder Joy Zenz, who founded the African Women in Europe in 2008.
