Co-Curricular Directory

The A.B. Paterson Co-Curricular program focuses on the needs and interests of our students, comprising of Sport, Arts and Activities. The program aims to achieve three main things through its delivery:
Enhance the overall student experience Promote lifelong engagement in Co-Curricular Activities
Empower every student to achieve their own personal excellence
This document will give the A.B. Paterson community an overview of the College’s CoCurricular program for 2023, including the current Co-Curricular timetable. The timetable is set, however extenuating circumstances can sometimes cause changes to timings.
Parents/Guardians will receive more detailed information on each activity throughout the early part of the year. When students commit to a program, it is expected that they fulfil that commitment for the duration of the program.
In the event of clashes, Sporting and Arts commitments take priority over Activities. If students have a clash between Sports and Arts commitments, they are expected to speak to the Head of Sports and the Head of the Arts to arrange a solution.

Through participation in the choral programs, students are given access to training that develops sound vocal techniques. They are also exposed to a wide range of choral repertoire and develop artistic and performance skills, including how to express style and communicate with their audience Students are also able to enrol in singing lessons with specialist vocal tutors, should they wish to develop solo performance techniques.
The instrumental music program is delivered via private tuition as well as involvement in extra-curricular ensembles We pride ourselves on an ever-developing instrumental program in which tuition is available on most instruments Although our band and ensemble programs allow students to participate at all levels, to ensure the most enjoyable experience for all, enrolments are not judged by year of the students, but are based on ability
Where “Year” says Exp, this means that acceptance into these groups is based on experience/ ability.
Drama is fabulous for students with a love of performing or for those looking to develop confidence, concentration and communication skills
Students in Years 7 - 12 are also offered the opportunity to participate in the Youth Theatre co-curricular ensemble. This group is suitable to students wishing to develop their acting and improvisation skills through a range of games, activities and performances
Dance as an art form is incredibly powerful and expressive and can assist students in building academic confidence, as well as providing performance opportunities at performance evenings, school productions and eisteddfods
Students are also offered the opportunity to enrol in private and group dance lessons through specialist dance tutors
Where “Year” says Exp, this means that acceptance into these groups is based on experience/ ability.
