April 23, 2015 School announces new internship partnership with Star-Telegram/McClatchy Junior- and senior-level strategic communication students will work this fall with professionals from the Star-Telegram/McClatchy digital sales team in a new partnership between the School of Strategic Communication and the news organization.

The new partnership will be called the Digital Training Academy and is open not only to students from TCU’s School of Strategic Communication, but any TCU student who qualifies for the program.

We are excited to launch this collaborative project ," said Kim Blouin, Director of Strategic Development Star-Telegram Media Services. "Our program offers TCU students a true multi-media sales experience and allows the Star-Telegram to expand our reach to the future professionals in our community."

Every other week, professionals will lead workshops that cover direct marketing, proposal generation, client needs assessments, multimedia sales, creative campaigns, and branding and marketing. Then, for the other eight weeks, each student will work for five hours with a mentor from the company. This time will include career shadowing experiences, where students watch and work with professionals during their client work and interactions.

"It's the best of both worlds," said Broc Sears, who directs internships at TCU's School of Strategic Communication. "Students get not only an internship and their own individual mentor but also the same training and skill development as professionals entering the digital sales field."

To qualify for the program, students should be a junior or senior at TCU; be interested in digital media and sales; have strong communication skills; and have at least a 2.5 overall GPA. Information about the internships is available through FrogJobs.

eCommerce Marketing—Ridgefield Park, NJ 

The eCommerce intern will assist with various elements of the eCommerce replatforming project, focusing on user acceptance testing (“UAT”) and competitive benchmarking.

Additionally, the eCommerce intern will also assist with various project management responsibilities related to the growth of the eCommerce business through the replatforming and user experience/user interface (“UX/UI”) initiatives.

Global Enterprise Tech Support—Richardson, TX 

The technical support intern will assist the Global Service Technical Operations team with day to day tasks related to our technical support offered to enterprise customers. The intern will work closely with our Sr Technical Support Specialists to help them with their technical case management. Because we’re a start-up environment, every day will present new challenges our team has to solve. Issues may range from helping our techs replicate an issue inside our lab or testing a solution prior to pushing it into a production environment.

We may ask you to interface with our systems/infrastructure team so we can implement improvements to the system platform to better enable our tech support specialists to deliver a great customer experience.

Enterprise Solutions Product Marketing—Richardson, TX 

The Product Marketing Intern will undertake ah-hoc analysis of direct competitors including a feature by feature comparison. He / she will be responsible for developing a SWAT view for each competitor researched. Other duties include working with product marketing team to develop customer ready presentations and technical documentation.

Marcom Integrated Marketing Intern—Ridgefield Park, NJ 

Assist in new model launching, day to day task, online asset management site, internal approvals and agency management of deliverables, as well as other projects as needed

Summer Intern, Communications—Ridgefield Park, NJ 

The PR summer Intern will assist PR team members with the execution of PR strategies, including developing messaging materials and assisting in execution of press events. The intern will learn the operations of an in-house PR organization and the media landscape of the consumer electronics industry.
