The KOUZINA culinary festival KOUZINA is the premier culinary event of the year in Eastern Halkidiki! In the shadow of the sacred Athos, in the cove of the bay of Mount Athos, on the sandy Ammouliani Island, at the foot of the Aristotelian mountain, in the Strymonikos bay, in the Akantios Bay, on the verges of Cholomontas, we invite you to smell and taste our organic products and flavors in a magnificent culinary feast, in which you participate as of this day!

Enjoy! The Traditional Café (Cafenion) «The Lanara» In one of the dozens squares of Arnea, the traditional cafe «The Lanara» surely «take» the visitors to another era, when the famous weavers of the village scraped the wool to create weaving masterpieces. Greek traditional coffee is offered to you with homemade «spoon» sweets made by fruits of Cholomontas forest, handmade liqueurs with dozens of flavors of the most «bizarre» mountain herbs, sweets from tree nuts, honeyed delights, homemade lemon, orange, or cherry juices, accompany the beautiful local breakfasts and the lively groups of the evenings. In the afternoon you can enjoy great tsipoupo Greek lunches. The «meze» is never predetermined. It is served with local strong tsipouro and wine. Cod with garlic sauce, local sausages, wild mushrooms, sun-dried octopus, bubbles and snails, beans, awesome homemade pickles with spicy peppers, cabbage from Arnea or Paleochori and so many others! The local «habitués» – elders or youngers – consist romantic figures (maybe from the past) and they always find an opportunity for gambling or backgammon while the owner, Angelos, will always welcome you with the «fullest» smile you’ve ever seen! This evening «The Lanara» welcomes chef Sofia Georgakaki, who is also a teacher at DELTA 360. She prepares a dinner in the heart of the Arnea center, creating a scenery in a stone-built square at a romantic Greek taverna with yard. A cheese – honey local story, a talented chef and a meze menu inspired by the local cheese / honey production. What else to ask for? We are waiting for you!


Menu THE FEAST OF THE FETA CHEESE & THE HONEY OF ARNEA Tomato Salad / Feta* Cheese Vinegared / Smoked Ηerring / Chili Pepper (*Arnaia is famous to produce feta and fine, goat cheese. The dairy «Theofilos Karagiannis» is the quality trademark of the whole region, since it is supplied with local milk, from herds grazing on the slopes of Holomontas and Aromontas)

Fera Croquette / Fig Chutney with honey** (** Arnaia is also famous to produce many varieties of honey. At «Pigi tou Meliou» by Dimitris Georgakas and at «Honey Pavlos Repanis» you will try them all, but also you will taste the unique mudovina)

Pancetta / Oxymeli / Fried «Giant» Beans *** / Puree of «Florinis» Pepper (*** Beans of all kinds are grown in Paleochori. The wet soil makes them extra delicious, and the summer air grows them in health, giving an exceptional appearance

Meat balls (keftedes) / Mint**** / Tsipouro / Feta Pesto (**** 4.500 trees/plants/herbs are found on the slopes and shadows of Cholomontas Mountain. Local women collect the fruits carefully and make uniquely tasteful sweets, revealing the nature’s taste and bringing you the aromas of the forest!)

Dessert: Honey Pie / Feta Cheese Mousse Served with a glass of Mountovina***** (*****Moudovina is a distillate of honey, produced only in Arnea by local beekeepers

Our rich local production allows us today to adopt the culinary traditions of Greek antiquity, which make up culinary phenomena with personality, character and therapeutic nature. «The feast of the feta cheese and the honey of Arnea» utilizes in maximum the local production and makes us travel with our imagination to the tables of the Dionysian feasts, where the wine flowed abundantly and the ecstaticism climaxed the senses!
