PROJECT POWERTHE
WOMEN RISING | COMMUNITIES THRIVING
This book is lovingly dedicated to the extraordinary individuals whose love and support have been a guiding light throughout my life.
For my Mother Susanne Margaret — our first Lady Boss in the family, my truest friend, my heart wishes you were here to share this with me.
For my husband Scott — your love, patience, and wisdom have been an enormous blessing in my life and I thank you.
For Sam and Connor Jack — you grew strong with a Lady Boss for a mom. I am so proud to call you my sons.
For my blended family of in-laws and outlaws, thank you for letting me in and keeping our tribe alive. Together, we set the bar high.
IF IT’S NOT FUN, WE’RE NOT DOING IT.
–Suzy Beth Sarver
You hold in your hands more than a book — it’s a collection of powerful stories about women who dared to dream, worked tirelessly, and built lives and businesses that inspire us all. My hope is that as you turn these pages, you will not only meet incredible women but also see reflections of your own strength, vision, and potential.
The Early Spark
My journey began in Girl Scouts. I had one simple dream: to be the number one cookie seller in my troop. Back then, it wasn’t about online links or social media campaigns — we went door-to-door, old-school style. With my petite frame and boundless determination, I climbed up on porch after porch, knocked on countless doors, and kept a vision in my mind: earning that coveted patch and award for top sales. And I did just that — I became the number one salesperson in my troop. That early victory planted the seed of ambition and showed me the power of persistence.
Witnessing Change
As the years went on, I watched women around me rise in their careers. The woman at the bank who once worked as a teller soon had her own office. She wasn’t yet the president, but things were clearly changing. I also tagged along with my mom, Susanne, to her business appointments — sometimes walking into smoke-filled offices where men dominated the room. Yet my mother held her ground. She was my first true “lady boss,” and watching her lead with confidence shaped how I saw women in business.
Storytelling Begins
Fast forward to San Diego, where my passion for storytelling took root. With the launch of The San Diego Real Estate Show, I found myself both in front of and behind the camera, weaving stories about people, places, and events that shaped the community. What thrilled me most was meeting women business owners. I would go off-script just to soak up their wisdom, eager to learn from their journeys.
A Dream Evolves
By late 2019, a new vision was forming. I wanted to create a book celebrating women entrepreneurs in Southwest Florida — a collection of profiles showcasing incredible lady bosses. I imagined it as The Insider Guide. I would need to start searching and identifying those I felt had a story to share. What I didn’t anticipate was that the women themselves would begin finding me. Now, over five years later, that dream has become reality. This is the first of many books I plan to write, because I know there are countless more stories of extraordinary women waiting to be told — not just in our community, but across the nation.
A Philosophy for Life and Work
One thing I always tell my team and everyone connected to me is this: If it’s not fun, we’re not doing it. Life is too short to pour your time and energy into ventures that don’t bring joy, fulfillment, and purpose. The women featured in this book embody that spirit. They are proof that you can do, be, or have anything you desire — if you believe in yourself, align with other leaders, and amplify your message.
That’s exactly why I host The Ladies Power Lunch each month: to connect women entrepreneurs, foster collaboration, and open doors to new opportunities. These gatherings aren’t just about generating leads or growing a business — they’re about building community, sharing ideas, and lifting one another higher.
Looking Ahead
As you read these stories, you’ll meet women who dared to step into the unknown, who built businesses from scratch, who turned passion into purpose, and who redefined what leadership looks like. Their voices ring with courage, creativity, and resilience. This book is more than a collection of profiles—it’s a movement. It’s an invitation. And most of all, it’s a reminder that you, too, are capable of greatness. So, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s begin.

DEBORAH GASPAR
DEBORAH GASPAR JEWELRY
For more than two decades, Deborah Gaspar has been creating jewelry that embodies both strength and serenity. "With Midwestern roots and spending years in Dallas, I now call Naples home." She draws inspiration from coastal hues and the natural beauty around her. Her signature style blends mixed metals with natural stones, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces that feel both timeless and deeply personal.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love and love what I do,” she shares. For 17 years Deborah showcased her collection through exclusive trunk shows at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, where her designs quickly captured the attention of stylists and fashion-forward clients. Today, her collection shines at philanthropic fundraising events, fine art shows, and private gatherings.
For Deborah, jewelry design is about more than adornment, it’s about connection. Mentored by nature and inspired by Coco Chanel, she sees each piece as a story waiting to be part of someone’s journey. “When something you create becomes part of another person’s life, that’s not just design, that’s connection,” she reflects.
Challenges, such as navigating the pandemic, only deepened her resilience and sharpened her vision. Looking ahead, she envisions her brand becoming a beloved name in Southwest Florida, with a mission to support causes that empower women, protect children, and preserve nature.
Outside her studio, Deborah treasures time with family, boating on the Gulf, and walking Florida’s beaches. “The sky, the sea, the sun, they speak to my soul,” she says. “Somehow, that spirit finds its way into every piece I create.”

Diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in her teens redefined how she understood health, healing and the human spirit. “From the beginning, I knew medicine had to be about more than prescriptions and procedures; it had to honor the whole person — mind, body and spirit.,” the Jamaica-born resident of Naples explained.
With her focus on wellness leadership for women, Dr. KTap is passionate about “guiding women back to themselves to that calm, wise place they forgot existed within them,” she adds “It gives me deep joy to watch a woman’s face soften as she lets go of proving, and starts living and thriving.”

ARETI KOTTI
FI AM SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING SOME VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY.
—ARETI KOTTI
or Areti Kotti, it started with a simple idea: Create a candle that brings a relaxing ambiance with their unique scents — that also was high quality, all natural and toxin free.
“As a mother, I was concerned that the candles we burned did not guarantee safety for us, kids and fur babies as well,” Kotti said. “It all started as a hobby, with more than a year spent searching for premium quality, toxin-free ingredients (fragrance oils, wax, wicks), then testing, learning, mastering techniques, and more.”
The candles received so much positive feedback and soon Bellatrix luxury candles was born. Kotti is excited about the future and the variety of products she will bring to the marketplace, hosting candle-making classes with the possibility of opening a retail store.
“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to bring some value to the community,” said Kotti, a native of Albania. “And I’m thankful to have an amazing support team of beautiful women who lift up each other.”

Years later, after advancing her career, she joined Brighton Collectibles, where she serviced small boutiques in New York and Florida.
Now, Piazza lives full-time in Florida and is co-owner of Naples Resin Workshops and still consults for retail in small boutiques.
“I love creating beautiful pieces of art and teaching resin classes,” she said. “I love seeing the look on people's faces when they create something beautiful…or buy the perfect gift,” Piazza stressed. “This is where creativity comes to life."

Armed with a Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies and certified as an American Board Certified Anti-Aging Practitioner, Berman began her career in Pediatric Orthopedics, though a personal health battle reshaped her path.
“I was a very healthy young adult who exercised my whole life, yet I was struggling with autoimmune disease,” she recalls. Frustrated by years of unanswered questions and ineffective treatments, Berman turned to her own research. That pursuit ultimately led her to Dr. Caroline Cederquist, a renowned functional medicine physician in Naples. “By grace, she took a chance on me,” Berman says of her mentor, who inspired her to dedicate her career to functional medicine.
In 2020, Berman opened her own Functional Medicine Clinic in Naples. Ashleigh Poirier started early as an entrepreneur, opening a coffee cafe/artisan gallery/gift store as an 18-year-old with $20 in the bank. “I begged the landlord to take a chance on me,” the Boston native recalled. Three years later she had opened her third location — but a tragic death in the family, left her a single mother with a six-month-old baby. “After selling the businesses, I packed up and moved to Florida so I could raise my son near relatives.”
Still yearning for a successful retail business, Poirier followed the advice of friends and sublet a space in Naples. “I then expanded into my own space in 2019,” she said. K & A Coastal design offers a beautiful retail showroom and interior designer firm. “And I’m proud to say I have employed the same staff at K&A Coastal Design for the last six years.”
Poirier credits perseverance, prayer and patience for her success in Naples. “I also partner with Naples Resin Workshops and teach classes weekly,” she said. “I love to create — and also raising money for animal related charities (fostering puppies).”

Chicago native Mary Pat Wallace has spent more than 30 years shaping the way people experience design, comfort, and well-being. A veteran of the design industry with early roots in high-end residential design at Blutter Shiff and later Holly Hunt, she went on to represent renowned European brands before her career took a defining turn: discovering that sleep itself was the foundation of living well.
As a young entrepreneur and mother, Mary Pat struggled with exhaustion and recognized she couldn’t fulfill her many roles without better rest. Research and a friend’s suggestion, led her to Hästens, the famed Swedish mattress maker. Experiencing firsthand how a perfectly fitted, handcrafted bed could restore energy and vitality, she knew she had found a calling. In 2005, she opened the first Hästens retail store in North America, right in Chicago.
Mary Pat eventually rebranded the business as The Luxury Bed Collection, expanding beyond Chicago to open additional showrooms in Dallas and Naples.
For over two decades, Mary Pat and her team of sleep curators have a mission that is grounded in a high-touch, personalized consultation process that evaluates posture, BMI, and sleep tension zones to match each client with the bed that will best support deep, restorative rest.
Mary Pat’s philosophy remains shaped by gratitude and guided by mentors. She leads with a team-first approach: “It takes a village, no company is about one person.”
Looking ahead, Mary Pat is dedicated to expanding both the reach and impact of The Luxury Bed Collection while continuing to pursue her lifelong passion: helping people awaken healthier, more energized, and more fully themselves.

MERRILL LYNCH
Finance. it’s an industry often dominated by men, but Julie McFalls and Trish Kaufman of Merrill Lynch are working hard to break this outdated stereotype.
“We got into this business to empower women by planning their financial future,” they emphasized.
Both women earned their respective college degrees by majoring in economics and finance, and never looked back. Even though they are from different cities, they share a passion to empower females to be confident in all financial endeavors. The two are blessed to have worked with other strong, powerful women who have helped guide and teach them along the way, and both take pride in helping clients structure the fruits of their labor — and feel fulfillment watching them reach their goals. Kaufman stated “The greatest gift you can give yourself is financial independence.”
From long-term clients to other professionals, to community outreach to friends and family, they feel each relationship they have made along the way is truly valued.

THE DO’S AND DON’TS TO KEEP YOUR SPIRIT ALIVE AND ALIGNED
Don’t:
Use your phone after 10pm, research indicates that a restful sleep begins when you stop exposing to blue light
Check your email after 8pm. My experience has shown me that disconnecting is vital to your wellbeing Chase anything. If it's not happening, there's a reason. Trust your intuition. I've walked away from big deals that were not aligned with my spirit. What starts right, stays right.
DO!
Volunteer at minimum once per month - give back! Explore activities with Nature, Art and Music - they feed the soul and foster creativity. Try and make it a daily habit
Visit new places and gain new perspectives.
KRISTEN GOODMAN

But what started as a simple hobby, sharing scrapbooking products — quickly grew into her true calling.
That passion became Clicking With Kristen, a business dedicated to helping families preserve their most cherished moments.

MEG BOYDEN
THE LASH LOUNGE
Born and raised in Greenfield, Illinois, Meg Boyden has always embodied a strong work ethic and a passion for service.
With degrees in Nursing from the University of Illinois and Accounting from the University of Nevada, she spent two decades in medical practice management before taking a leap of faith into entrepreneurship. Today, she and her fiancé, Philip, own The Lash Lounge in Estero, Florida, a business that marries her love for beauty, service, and leadership.
“I was a member at The Lash Lounge in another state, and I loved how beautiful and confident lash extensions made me feel while also simplifying my beauty routine” Meg recalls. “That inspiration led us to open our own location, where I now get to combine my passions every day.”
Meg credits her parents Marsha and Bob Narmont as major influences. “My dad, even at 80, shows me what it means to stay curious and never stop striving for excellence,” she says. She also draws inspiration from Martha Stewart, whose ability to transform everyday skills into a thriving brand encouraged Meg to dream bigger.
For Meg, beauty is about more than aesthetics, it’s transfor mation. “Watching a woman sit up after a service and light up with renewed confidence is incredibly fulfilling,” she says. Equally rewarding is mentoring her staff: “Helping them grow in their skills, confidence, and leadership is one of the best parts of what I do.”
Looking ahead, Meg plans to expand with new locations in Naples and Fort Myers, continuing her mission to empower women — inside and out.

ARBONNE
She’s a Midwestern girl who found her sunshine in Florida. After five decades in the beauty industry, 74-year-young Patricia Kazor is living proof that passion, perseverance and purpose pay off.
Patricia’s career began as a hairdresser and soon after she discovered network marketing with Jafra Cosmetics, eventually leading to where she is now with Arbonne.
"This business has its challenges, such as finding and mentoring new leaders. It takes dedication,” said Kazor, who is originally from Michigan but has called Naples home for the past 27 years. "But it’s very rewarding helping other women succeed.”
Today Patricia enjoys the freedom and flexibility that her business provides. "Hosting classes on making sour dough bread, jewelry making and travel are all possible due to the flexibility of Arbonne,” she said. When asked about her success, she said “it’s about lifting others up and creating a community. I want to show women that it’s never too late to chase their dreams.”

NAPLES CANCER ADVISORS
Born and raised in Naples Florida, Nikki Audia is Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement at Naples Cancer Advisors.
With a Bachelor’s in Cardiopulmonary Sciences and credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist, she began her career in intensive care before transitioning into leadership, where she helped build a lung cancer screening program “from the ground up.”
Nikki says, “I love that my role allows me to be the connector between purpose and possibility.” Inspired by mentors like Dr. William Barrett and women who “lead with grit and grace." She aspires to expand cancer advocacy nationally.
Passionate about family wellness, and writing a children's series on cancer, Nikki shares, “Being able to lead with purpose and make people feel like they matter, lights me up every single day.”
As Executive Director of the Cincinnati Cancer Foundation, the parent organization of Naples Cancer Advisors and Cincinnati Cancer Advisors, Lana Uhrig leads with vision, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring no one faces cancer alone.
A cancer survivor herself, Lana says, “I most enjoy that my work is deeply mission-driven and fully aligned with my personal values.” Grateful to serve alongside Dr. William Barrett, whose founding vision inspires her work to expand access to free cancer support services.
Lana thrives on turning bold ideas into lasting impact. Her leadership reflects a belief that true power is found in service and in building pathways that uplift entire communities affirming, “Hope grows when a community comes together.”
Beyond her professional role, she treasures travel, service both locally and abroad, and time with family, grounding her drive for purpose and lasting change.
Skylar Porter’s journey began as a competitive gymnast, before pursuing acting in New York City (including a small recurring role in “One Life to Live” and national commercials); however, eventually, she found her way to the corporate world — including time as the Director of Digital Enablement at a Fortune 1000 company.
But her deep calling to follow her own creative vision led her to launch SkyStruk Shoes — a footwear brand inspired by her grandmother, “Momoo” (who she considered her biggest influence).
“Momoo told me to never walk out of the house without dressing to the ’nines’ — don’t forget your jewels and your lipstick because you never know who you will meet along the way,” Porter said.
"Leaving a stable corporate career…to launch my own business was a bold risk,” she said. I never set out to think like a small business.
“My vision is for SkyStruk Shoes to grow into a global legacy brand, one that empowers women with confidence-boosting footwear.”
From Naples to the World, SkyStruk is built with a global future in mind.

Trained as a graphic designer and photographer, Monica has spent more than 18 years refining her artistry. “My career began in graphic design, where I discovered the power of visual storytelling,” she reflects. “That path naturally led me to photography, where I’ve had the privilege of capturing not just images, but emotions and stories that last for generations.”
