Sunscreen is used to protect people from the harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. Suntan lotion is used to make relatively pale people darker in skin color. However, these two terms are used interchangeably because many people have the misconception that suntan lotion protects skin from ultraviolet rays just because the skin no longer burns. Only products with the label SPF, which stands for sun protection factor, actually protect skin against ultraviolet rays.

Cosmetic developers are moving away from simply being natural, instead, they are investing in the communities they derive their materials from.

Equally, waste stream, water-saving, and vegan alternatives point to wider opportunities within eco-beauty market place.

Your self-tanning routine: I don’t go one pump on my hand and it will turn out very dark. I tan and blend all of my arm and just wait until basically nothing is on my mitt and then I just really lightly and quickly do my hands and fingers. Use the leftovers on hands.

After I tan, I just put on loose clothes, so it dry very fast and I can sleep in it.

The best way to maintain the tan (last longer, mine is 7-10 days) is to moisturize.

I’m a very very fair, and it gives me natural tan look without looking orange or green or just looking strange. Also it last ten or twelve days. A mousse is the easiest one to do self- tan because you can check the color right away so it won’t be streaky. It has a nice scent.

When was your first time self-tanning?

I started tanning when I was younger. I used to sit in the sun all the time. It was such a big mistake because of the skin cancer. I don’t do that anymore.

I turned to self tanning because it is the healthy way to be tanned, even tanning bed it is not good for you. Spray tans are fine but I just haven’t found a place around me.

The purpose of the project Giving information about selftanning with simple graphics or package ideas. For example, visualize sunlight using geometry shapes, use the image of sun and shadow, or use metaphor such as tanned skin is a cloth which is instant and easily wear like clothes.

Sculpt Your Body Professionally Propose the proper tools for easy self-tanning.

During conducting interviews, I found that there are few strict processes of self-tanning such as skin has to exfoliate before a day, and the products should be applied with the mitt to not making splotch. Some users also didn’t use the mitt for their face, and they use a makeup brush to tan their skin more naturally. In addition, it usually takes 20-30 minutes and doing back of the body takes a lot of time and it is literally hard to do it by themselves.

The purpose of the project is to provide the users proper tools, and easy-use package.

The first idea of this product was focused on applicator such as brushes which users use for their face. There was a small brush on the top the object, and small mitt was under the object. Users can use small brush for narrow area such as nose and eyes delicately, and wider areas with a mitt.
