1-800-821-0597 How to Fix Brother Printer Error Light If you have a brother HL-2240, HL-2230, HL-2270DW, or HL2280DW desktop printer connected to your PC or Mac you will no doubt from time to time get a toner error light or drum error or even just the error light up.

Sometime this just seems to be the system getting it wrong and sometime it throws up a tuner error light or drums error even though there is still toner left or the drum is still in good enough condition to continue printing.

Here's how to get rid of ANY error light on your brother HL-2240, HL-2230, HL-2270DW, or HL-2280DW desktop printer by performing a factory reset.

Please note that his will completely reset you printer. Go here if you just want to get rid of the toner error light on a brother laser.

This is not a software solution so it works on windows XP, 7, 8, 10 etc and also works on Linux and OS X. Factory reset your brother laser printer: 1.

Turn off your brother printer.

Press and hold down the go button.

With the go button still held, turn on it back on again.

When the three lights light up, release the button and then press the go button TEN times.

5. Wait until the ready light is lit.

Your brother laser printer should now be factory reset and all the error lights (toner, drum and error) should have stopped flashing.

IMPORTANT: You may need to restart your printer again before you can print and in some cases, because you have performed a factory reset, your computer may not recognize the printer. You may need to delete the printer driver and install it again via systems setting (Mac) or control panel (PC).
