CODNOR PARK NEWS

T

his month has been yet another busy one. We’ve had Catherine Bates here pampering everyone with lovely massages. Nesta bought her ark to see us and how amazing was that with lizards, snakes hedgehogs and chinchillas to name just a few species. The 17th saw us dancing a jig (even if it was mostly in a chair) with Dave the Banjo man and Jim the fiddle.

T

hank you to Liz in the kitchen for our Irish themed dinner and shamrock topped cakes. Katie Rebecca as usually didn’t disappoint when she sang for us all on the 23rd.

A

nd as usual we’ve been making, playing singing, chatting, and quizzing etc for the rest of the time.

KING WILLIAM NEWS

King William residents have been busy making their Easter bonnets for our Easter fayre. There will be a prize for the best decorated bonnet, also a best decorated egg competition. We have a new activity coordinator Heather and she has been busy organizing new activities for the residents.

We would like to welcome our new residents Ernest and Lucy and hope they enjoy their stay with us. King William would also like to welcome our new staff Theresa, Pearl, Holly, Daniel it is nice to have you all on board. Lesley would like to thank all her staff for all their hard work and commitment over the last couple weeks.

CARE HOME OPEN DAY 19th JUNE 2015 For the third year running, Care Home Open Day will be taking place, and this year is being held on 19th June 2015, promoting the themes of The Arts and Valuing Staff. Supported by a group of leading care providers, associations, charities and care regulators, Care Home Open Day aims to reinforce the connections care homes have across their local communities, as well as challenging misconceptions about residential care and showcasing the excellent services that are at the heart of communities across the UK. To date, Care Home Open Day has proven to be a great success and the event is growing yearon-year, with more care homes signing up to take part each time. www.nationalcarehomeopenday.org.uk


VALLEY LODGE NEWS

We had Colin Jackson come and sing for us on the 2nd March, everyone had a really good sing-a-long. We went out for lunch to our local church Edith and Dora really enjoyed meeting people within our community. We have an Easter raffle at present with a large Easter egg hamper and lots more Easter eggs if any one would like a raffle ticket just call our home.

St Patricks Day went off with a real bang with Noisy Neighbours

Our Mothers day celebrations went really well with Razzle Dazzle everyone, sang along to all the Disney songs.

Kath has being very busy making Easter baskets.

KIDSLEY GRANGE NEWS

R

esident Mary Clark received a visit from her Grand daughter Kayleigh on 21st March. Kayleigh couldn’t let her special day pass without the most important person in her life sharing a part of her big day! Picture with Grandma on her special day. Also present in the photo was daughter Brenda who visits Mary on a regular basis.


SMALLEY HALL NEWS This month Smalley Hall has enjoyed lots of entertainers and special treats. We have been entertained by John Drinkall, Mark Edworthy, Tom Pilkington and Roy Kelly. We have taken trips out to see the travelling cinema, Nesters Ark, and John Jones with his accordion. We have shared a trip to Matlock for our monthly singing for the brain session with the Alzheimer’s society. We have been busy making tissue flowers and egg carton daffodils. We made lucky clovers for St Patricks day.

What we’ve been doing.... We have had performances by Collin Jackson, Bob Reed and Frankie Fortune. We had our Irish Bistro night. We went on a shopping trip and had our Easter fete. Welcome to our new manager Sarahjane. Welcome to West Hallam Lorna, Brian, Gladys, Eric and Pat.


THE FIRS NEWS

We had a visit from Nestas Ark on March 13th and all the residents really enjoyed seeing and holding the different animals and reptiles. The handler also explained to residents where the animals originated from. The residents have all enjoyed making Easter cards for the friends and family. Every Wednesday we hold a coffee morning for residents and there friends and family to come along to. Our fantastic kitchen staff make cakes and everybody enjoys a drink, cake and chat. We have an Easter raffle running at the moment. Prizes include a large cuddly rabbit and lots of Easter eggs. “Welcome” to Ann and Naume our 2 new nurses. We hope you enjoy working at The Firs. “Good bye and good luck” to our nurse Victoria who is moving to Warwickshire. Thank you for all your hard work - we will miss you.
