Chien-Chiang HUA 華建强 | Guns are weapons, an attack, an argument, a form of slander, a confrontation between evils. Suits are knowledge, power, position, money, the advantages wielded by those in power. Placing guns and suits side by side indeed serves as a metaphor for all the disputes, both large and small, that occur around the world, including the conflicts seen in societies, or grievances between nations. It does not explicitly point out any single matter, yet it reiterates the relation between the conflicting factors in each work of the collection. It is always lingering near, like a specter replaying renditions of humanity’s conflicts throughout history. My works provides a perch where one may observe and meditate. It forms a metaphor for a fairytale like world, pointing to the endless cycles of absurdity by humanity through the process of imagining, creating and executing.
