What is Tasteme?

Tasteme reduces food waste by using a sharing economy model. By selling mystery bags to consumers, restaurants offer products that are sll within their valid period but haven't sold out. Each mystery bag contains products that offer a value greater than the price paid for the bag.

Why am I choosing Tasteme?

When I first tried Tasteme, I was impressed by the concept, but the user experience was lacking. Some funcons were unclear, and users on the app store also shared the same complaints. I want to redesign the app to improve usability.

Goals for this project

Usability Enhancement

Enhance flow, redesign confusing features.

Opmize app for sasfacon

Enhance brand image to aract users.

Market and engage for sales boost

Achieve the product's original goal: Reduce food waste and carbon emissions.

Pain Points from the

APP store

Interface is not intuive:

Unable to exit the page aer enterIng a store, screen space feels oppressive.

Missing push noficaon feature

Disorganized Informaon Hierarchy

The map route is not clear. Unclear funcon navigaon.

Informaon is confusing: Stores that are not open sll appear at the top.

Unclear order status:

It does not show whether the store has accepted the order, past orders, or how many are le available from the store.

Incongruous layout

Components extend beyond the screen and have uneven spacing.

Banner is too large and takes up too much space on the home page.

Unclear Informaon

The menu is disorderly, and some funcons should be integrated.

The invitaon page lacks informaon hierarchy and is cluered without clear focus.

After researching and interviewing, I found other users shared my impression of Tasteme'simpressive concept, but lacked a satisfying user experience.

Non-intuive operaon

No return to homepage from map explorer

Navigaon from the home page to the store requires at least three layers, overly complicated.

Restaurants outside the city sll appear in the self-pickup opon.

Problem Defination

Lack of clear objecves

Users must scroll to locate shopping opons.

Limited Favorites Feature

Users oen choose based on stores rather than individual items when shopping, which restricts the user experience.

Restaurant details aren’t immediately apparent.

Numerous colors in the informaon secon lack clear meaning.

Limited Payment Opons

Currently, customers who don't have credit cards are unable to use the service, which could lead to potenal customer loss.

Limitaon of Shopping Cart Flexibility

The app currently requires checkout aer each restaurant's order, potenally easing engineering work but liming user opons.

Inefficient Navigaon

If users want to modify their shopping list from the payment page, they need to navigate back through at least three layers of the app.

Before Aer

Use red and green to indicate restaurant order status for easy user comprehension.

Inconsistent configuraons and inaccurate informaon hinder the priorizaon of our food ordering service. Moreover, the self-pickup opon erroneously shows stores in other cies.

Store informaon is fragmented, making it hard to grasp at a glance. Excessive colors with unclear meanings, the necessity to scroll down to view products, and the inability to see full reviews or their dates diminish the app's userfriendliness.

Issues found include excessive whitespace, funcon conflicts, lack of an eding feature for direct profile updates, and absence of a default avatar.

Profile Menu

Post-design, I resolved the 'recent orders' and 'history record' conflict and reduced excess whitespace by add-ing a profile edit feature.

Ensure appropriate spacing for an aesthecally pleasing design. Reorganize for a clearer layout that improves visual clarity.

Introduced edit funcon for direct profile updates to tackle the unavailability of profile eding.
