Winter Flakes & Frozen Lakes

A winter vacation in Tomahawk should include taking advantage of our vast trail system lauded by avid area snowmobilers as one of the finest, most well-kept in the Midwest. Our local snowmobile clubs work non-stop to meticulously maintain hundreds of miles of beautifully groomed trails. You can reach countless restaurants and pubs by snowmobile, and most even offer a spot to lay your helmet. We are ready for you!

Ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice skating will fill your winter calendar with plenty of fun activity to enjoy the beautiful winter wonderland that Tomahawk becomes. We also host an actual Winter Wonderland event. We welcome Santa to downtown Tomahawk every year for our Christmas Wonderland visit held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, in conjunction with Shop Small Saturday. Downtown comes alive with the hustle and bustle of little laughs, Christmas carols, and plenty of holiday shopping.

Well-groomed snowmobile trails! Tomahawk is home to more than 400 miles of groomed trails for pristine snowmobiling in the winter months. These trails also connect to more than 900 great miles of groomed snowmobiling in neighboring Oneida County, making Tomahawk a central destination for snowmobilers each winter.

Here you can witness the beauty of a Northwoods winter as the extensive trail system takes you through beautiful wooded wildlife areas, expansive frozen lakes, and smooth fields. Our trail systems are groomed and maintained by the Knight Owls Snowmobile Club, Northern Trails Unlimited, and Northwoods Passage. These club raise several thousands of dollars each year through their businesses and social clubs to maintain our superb trails and keep Tomahawk a premier snowmobiling destination.

We also have plenty of accommodations and area businesses along the trails for your enjoyment.
