CHECK IT OUT! In 1891 basketball was born. James Naismith had loved sports so much, he invented BASKETBALL! Basketball is one of the most famous sport in the world. Instead of coaching, he wanted people to play basketball. His game!
On a snowy breezy day in Springfield, Massachusetts December 21st 1891 James Naismith was a coaching a team at the YMCA. He had been thinking of a new game because someone told him too. His student couldn’t play outside because it was winter. So he invented basketball. He started of with two baskets on each side of the court and a soccer ball. But lots of people wanted to play the game like the U.S.A.
But unfortunately James Naismith died by a heart attack on November 28th 1936. Now basketball is really popular and there are lots of famous basketball players but sadly Canada is not really good at basketball, the neighbor America is. In America basketball is professional. The NBA players get millions every week they are really rich. They play for money.
This person is one the famous basketball player Michael Jordan was born in 1963. he was famous because his height was perfect for basketball and he won lots of MVP’s. He was in the NBA and he won best African American basketball player in the world in 1988.
