Welcome to 62nd Medical Brigade This Family Readiness Handbook is dedicated to you, to help with your transition to this great Medical Brigade and will serve as a quick information reference to the facilities and services offered here at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and areas of interest at the Pacific Northwest. As medics, we must always maintain a trained and ready posture to insure deployed units will receive high quality medical care in any theater of operations. Our medics are well trained, superbly led, and resourced with the best equipment the Army has to offer. However, they are only able to do their jobs if they know their families are informed and cared for in their absence. Each company in the 62nd Medical Brigade has its own Family Readiness Group (FRG) and is active and working to support our Soldiers and their Families at all cycles of deployment. Our FRG exist to…  Provide accurate and current communication between command teams and Families  Sharing of information on the Army life, the unit, and our mission.  Promote self-reliance during family separation due to training exercise, deployment, temporary duty assignment (TDY) or schooling. While each FRG is different, all will welcome volunteers and your suggestions, and if you have ideas or suggestions to make our FRG more effective and successful, please contact your FRG point of contact or leader. Below are some of the activities we have been doing:

Ensure that our redeploying single Soldiers have a welcoming room in the Soldier’s barracks.

Work hand-in-hand with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for low income families in the community

Provide family fun activities, i.e. Halloween Trunk or Treat, BBQ get-together, fundraisings, volunteer recognition, FRG meetings, etc. to promote camaraderie and esprit de corps among Soldiers and Families. Work in conjunction with local community groups to provide school supplies and holiday toys to children in our unit. 62nd Medical Brigade FRG Handbook
