CONCEPT The Reflection of Bamboo is an i n t e r a c t i v e i n s t a l l a t i o n c re a t e d b y bamboo. The idea of its appearance derives traditional bamboo lanterns. We present two elements, new and old, via technological and innovative manner, not only allowing visitors to experience visual perception from different dimensions but also, at the same time, keeping the affection between technology and tradition tender and balance.

Bamboo possesses firmness and flexibility, as well as the incomparable tenacity with other materials after processing.

Meanwhile, the shadow effect of the bent bamboo brings vitality, which makes the viewer feel they are in the nature. The new experience with the bamboo as a traditional material may arouse the resonance for viewers with traditional culture and technique, further encouraging more innovative ideas toward the development of traditional culture.

INTERACTION

When the infrared sensor detects a viewer, it will pull the fishing line and bend the bamboo, forming a shape of bamboo lantern. In the field of interactive installation, creators will find ways to present perfect curves. Curves line can present various emotions in the design works

The main technique is detecting body temperature by infrared sensor to drive the installation, and bending bamboo by fishing line and motor.

Concept

Create a real book which is about a e-book remaining relationship, providing interaction for children , including another way to read it.

Children can put the character to the notch to complete the story in every chapter; while connecting to monitor, it will show the corresponding animation through the electronic paper and Arduino.

Concept interactive projection on the ground, quietly appreciating the solitude of a boat, or looking up to the rising mountains, the audience will be able to read the atmosphere of this space, which implies the patriarchal society and confining environment that compel the artist to travel abroad decades ago - a decision that would eventually lead to a journey of art and oneself, subsequently opening their eyes to the world.
