We know there are a lot of questions around 4-H and the new public health orders from the Government of Saskatchewan. These new public health orders will be in place until February 19, at which time the Government will access the situation and either extend or relax restrictions. In order to make it easier to understand what it means for 4-H clubs, we have created a December 17 memo, which is available at www.4-h.sk.ca/covid19preparedness – please read this memo, as it outlines the impact this has on 4-H clubs, what activities can be done under these new restrictions and has ideas/suggestions for how to work within them. Please be sure to follow the most up to date Public Health Orders. The main points are: • The recommendation is to limit all non-essential gatherings. If your event or activity can be held virtually or postponed, consider making this change. • The public health order suspending team/group activities does affect several types of 4-H activities. Please see the “Project and Activity Specific Information” appendix in the memo for complete details. • No food or drink may be present or served during any gathering • Indoor gatherings in private homes are limited to five people. To clarify, if five people or more live at that location, there can be no additional visitors. • In-person meetings can be held, but no hands-on activities are allowed at this time. There are some hands-off activities, including working on your record book or a classroom-style presentation from a leader or guest, which can be done. We know these restrictions may seem daunting, but don’t forget, the provincial office staff is here to support you! Call your regional 4-H specialist to get help implementing these in your club, to help you come up with new ideas to keep your club active at a distance or to help you with moving meetings and activities virtual. No matter your gathering size or location – stay safe and take precautions. Practice physical distancing from those outside your household, wash your hands, and wear a mask. We ask all 4-H’ers follow government restrictions and guidelines. If you have concerns with the government guidelines, please contact their hotline at 1-855-559-5502.
