The trade was brisk throughout with many buyers and potential buyers looking to buy strong stylish sheep and looking to invest in renowned bloodlines. The leading price of the day was an in lamb gimmer hogg from the renowned Hundith flock of Jack & Adam Lawson of Kirkland Green. This hogg sired by the Smearcett C003 and going back to the old Kentmere V003 scanned in lamb with twins to Cherry Tree ram bought out of Hawes last autumn sold for £1,600. It was another gimmer hogg that broke past the thousand pound barrier this time from Messrs Lord of the Hewgill flock, a stylish gimmer hogg sired by E047 Hewgill (Green Tag) that has done very well for the flock and going back to the old R1 Lunesdale ewe bought from James Barker’s Keer flock many years ago and this went onto sell for £1,350. In lamb ewes in strong demand and many more could have easily been sold. It was a four shear ewe from Trevor and John France of Higher Core that took the top price selling to £520 carrying twins to Midlock D043, a ram being used very successfully in the flock with other ewes from the same home selling to £400.
