Weekly Report and Newsletter - 19th November J36 Rural Auction Centre: General Sale of Horses & Ponies - Saturday 13th November 2021 North West Auctions were proud to host the Autumn sale of 240 Horses, Ponies & Donkeys, this much anticipated sale attracted vendors and buyers from throughout England, Wales, Scotland as well as enquires from overseas. The auction market was packed full with standing room only and bids galore, the market topper at 5500gns was Polly a 14.2 hands four year old palomino cob mare. The next call at 4200gns was Squires Symhony a 16 hand, 6 year old mare which was broken to ride and full of some wonderful breeding. From the same home was Race selling for 3600gns, she was a 9 year old traditional mare at 14.1 hands that was broken to ride but still green. Miniature Shetland filly foals peaked at 2500gns for Clickham Lilly. The sale saw a high clearance rate with vendors leaving well pleased with their trade. The next general sale of horses, ponies and donkeys is on Saturday 30th April 2021.
Lancaster Auction Mart: Sale of Prime Lambs and Cast Sheep - Monday 15th November 2021 Prime Lambs Lancaster held its weekly sale of prime lambs with a reduced entry forward this week of 651 but there was certainly no reduction in trade with an impressive overall market average of 267p/kg and an SQQ of 274p. All lambs forward averaged just a few pence short of £120 a head. Beltex lambs led the way in Lancaster selling to £148 weighing 50kgs from Kevin Purtill, Wigan which were purchased by Michael Lomax on behalf of Mckuhens Butchers, Liverpool. Texel lambs topped at £146.50 weighing 57kg from J Whewell, Scorton. Texels also topped the pence per kilo today selling to a top of 310p/kg or £145 from T&L Kirkham, Eccleston. Suffolk lambs peaked at £138 from A&E Clarkson, Thurnham. Plenty pens of heavy weight lambs regularly selling in the region of £140. Handy weighted lambs in Lancaster today have been a sharper trade, with well finished continental lambs
