Case Study: Consumer Promotion & Event Dare Iced Coffee and Hamish & Andy ‘Head All Over The Place’ The Brief: Lion and Optimo Designs needed us to conceptualise and fulfil the prize elements for the ‘Head All Over The Place’ promotion - a play on the Dare ‘not thinking straight’ motto. The winner travelled ‘all over the place’, doing a number of quirky activities with three friends and Hamish & Andy. 33 Degrees provided a host for the day.

Our Role: 33 Degrees custom-built the prize for an action-packed day, starting at the 2Day FM studios listening to Hamish & Andy’s show. This was followed by a scenic helicopter ride over the Melbourne CBD, a trampoline experience at ‘Bounce’ and finally a private dinner and a night at St Jerome’s - The Hotel, a high end, unique, rooftop glamping experience in the middle of the Melbourne’s CBD. We created the custom itinerary, organised all travel requirements, provided participants with GoPros to capture the event and create content for the client, organised F&B requirements (Lion beverages only, of course!), managed all winner correspondence and sent a 33 Degrees host to ensure the group adhered to the very tight timings across the day.

Case Study: Consumer Promotion Carlton Dry & Mercury Cider ‘Ready or Not?’ promotion – 7 prizes The Brief: Clemenger BBDO (formerly The Marketing Shop) asked us to bring to life adrenalin pumping, hair-raising, once in a lifetime, crazy experiences both domestic and internationally. Their client, CUB, offered these as major prizes in their ‘Ready or Not’ consumer promotion to drive sales and increase brand engagement. The catch? Winners had to be ready to take up the opportunity (and be fit to travel!) within a couple of weeks of the draw.

Our Role: Our trusted global contacts helped us to realise our ideas for some outthere experiences that reflected the brand and campaign personality and met the various budget allocations for each major prize. Experiences included: drifting (extreme driving experience) in Japan, zip-lining between ski resorts in the French Alps on the world’s highest zip-line, heli-biking in New Zealand, fly-boarding in Koh Samui, hiking an active volcano in Mexico, night diving with manta rays in Hawaii, croc ‘hunting’ on airboats in Australia’s Northern Territory and a heli-ski adventure in Alaska. We managed all aspects of the trips including all travel requirements (flights, accommodation, on-ground transportation, travel insurance), winner correspondence and 24-hour phone support to winners while they were travelling – a necessary inclusion when undertaking extreme experiences! We also provided key clauses for inclusion into the T&Cs, specific to each prize, dependent on travel locations, time of travel and local legislation/restrictions.

The Outcome: “It was awesome!! Thank you so much. The hotel was great, the helicopter trip was amazing, and the whale watching / sunset cocktail cruise on our last evening was spectacular! Case Study: Consumer Promotion Seven Network & John West, ‘The Amazing Race’ Alaskan Adventure The Brief: We were tasked by Seven to create a travel experience that gave a prize-winner the chance to live ‘The Amazing Race’ while also being strongly aligned with the sponsor brand, John West.

Our Role: We carefully curated a special trip to Alaska, the destination chosen for its pristine wilderness and sensational wildlife to fit with the quality image of John West products. Each morning at breakfast, hotel staff ceremoniously presented our guests with an actual Amazing Race yellow envelope (the same one used on the show), revealing their surprise activity for the day.

These included unique and exciting experiences such as dog sledding, snowmobiling, a helicopter flight, snowcat skiing and snowshoe canyoning, all once in a lifetime experiences for the prize-winner and her family.

The Outcome: “It was awesome to have the adventures as a surprise every morning! And each adventure was amazing. From speeding around on skidoos to flying over the mountains in a helicopter to climbing a frozen waterfall to dog mushing to being up close with bears and moose. They tested my courage and skills and allowed me to do things I have never done before. This trip has definitely inspired me to take more adventurous holidays”.

Case Study: Group Travel Trade Incentives Jim Beam & Makers Mark incentive trips to Louisville, Kentucky USA The Brief: Fuel Sydney required two trade incentive group travel experiences. Trip 1 was for 39 trade partners (off-licence venue owners) and 6 Coca-Cola Amatil Managers (Beam’s distribution partner). Trip 2 was for X bartenders. The aim of the trips was to help build relationships with Beam’s trade partners while showcasing the essence and history of the brand, in the birth town of Beam, Louisville Kentucky. The itineraries needed to feature exciting and unique elements that would create long-lasting memories and appeal to a broad range of participants.

Our Role: We created a bespoke itinerary and provided unrivalled access to some of the most popular establishments, eateries and sites in Louisville including the chance to get behind-the-scenes and meet the locals. We even arranged a private dinner at the Noe family residence (the 7th generation family behind Jim Beam bourbon) which showcased Southern hospitality at its finest. Guests enjoyed free flowing bourbon from the Beam portfolio, plenty of Southern grub, including Grilled Pork Chop & Skillet Fried Chicken (flambéed on the grill by Freddie Noe himself), Butter Bean Soup and baked apples. They enjoyed a live band performance and were granted access to Fred Noe’s ultimate man-cave. We managed all aspects of the trips including travel requirements and traveller correspondence as well as providing a host to accompany the group and provide on-ground assistance. This ensured the trips ran smoothly, and consistently reflected the Beam brand personality and values at all times.

Case Study: Company-wide Celebration Trip Epoch Capital, 10th Anniversary Celebration Trip to Tokyo, Japan The Brief: To design, manage and host a group trip for 60 people to celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary. Half of the employees were based in London, the other half in Sydney. The client wanted a memorable trip that embraced the culture of the destination, allowed the staff from both locations ample time to bond, and reflected the values of the company, whilst celebrating their decade milestone.

Our Role: 33 Degrees proposed a variety of destinations (both in Australia and internationally) for the event. The client selected a destination that was midway between London and Sydney and was drawn to Tokyo for the unique experiences we could arrange. As their company still needed to continue operations during the trip (24/7 trading), we split their trip into two group trips of about 30 people per group participating in the identical itinerary. This also allowed us to provide a more intimate experience on both group trips, particularly with dining options and activities.

33 Degrees was then tasked with building the program for the trip consisting of unique activities, conference time and high-end dining for the four-day program.

With an itinerary that included a day visit to Kyoto on the bullet train, a meet and greet with MasterChef Mr. Nobu, taking on a sumo wrestler, a tea ceremony with a Geisha, riding go-karts through the streets of Tokyo, building robots, experiencing ‘the future’ with prototype skeltronics suits and a visit to the famous Kill Bill restaurant, we ensured our guests had the most unique and unforgettable time.

The Outcome: 33 Degrees helped us organise an amazing work trip to Tokyo for 70 people! They assisted with every detail, flights, accommodation - nothing was too small or big of a request. Case Study: Media Promotion Mastercard, Australian Open Tennis Promotion The Brief: Accessing last-minute tickets and travel for the Australian Open Men’s Final isn’t easy! However, this was the brief that Seven needed assistance with in December 2017. Additionally, the prize winner name wouldn’t be available until 5 days prior to departure. To make this MasterCard Priceless experience a reality required a flexible approach and great contacts.

Our Role: 33 Degrees promptly secured tickets and on-ground arrangements for Seven to enable fast turn-around of the project.

Case Study: Consumer Promotion XXXX Gold Ultimate Fishing Experience - Choice of 3 Destinations The Brief: Create three ultimate Australian fishing experiences that would appeal to XXXX consumers with the promotion winner to choose their preferred trip from the three options.

Our Role: 33 Degrees proposed a range of epic fishing experiences including the three final options which were game fishing from Broome WA, barramundi fishing at the Top End at Bamurru Plains and a Haggerstone Island Robinson-Crusoe fishing experience on a tiny private island in the far north Great Barrier Reef. Our role included creating the prize options, assisting with TCs, all winner management including booking charter flights, scheduled flights, all accommodation and activities.

For me, maybe it was the food, but it was all first class. Case Study: Trade Incentive Sailor Jerry’s, Ten Pin Bowling Tournament Bartender Incentive The Brief: Create a fun and engaging incentive activity in Adelaide for 28 bar tenders from around Australia and two Sailor Jerry’s brand ambassadors. The client wanted to create a punchy two-day experience reflecting the quirky Sailor Jerry’s brand personality (think rum, think old-school vibes, and tattoos) with activities that would interest bartenders.

Our Role: 33 Degrees proposed a mix of activities including a ten-pin bowling tournament, clay pigeon shooting, an event on a boat, go-karting and a dining experience at an iconic pub. The final itinerary included the ten-pin bowling and led to one of our all-time favourite winner questions. ‘Can I bring my bowling ball on the plane with me as carry on?’… love it! Case Study: Media Promotion KIA Australian Open Promotion featuring seven brand-infused holidays The Brief: Create seven holidays prizes each reflecting one of the seven participating models within the Kia range. The prizes featured in a promotion run during the Australian Open broadcast on Seven, sponsored by Kia. Our Role: We created seven amazing trips: Kia RIO trip to Brazil, Kia CARNIVAL to Disneyland, California, Kia SORENTO ski trip to Queenstown, Kia SPORTAGE trip to Madrid Open Tennis Tournament, Kia OPTIMA GT to Singapore F1 Grand Prix, Kia CERATO Sedan to Hong, Kia CERATO hatch trip to San Francisco including heli-tour and Napa wine tasting. We gave assistance with T&Cs, all winner management including traveller communications, all travel bookings and 24/7 phone support for winners while travelling.

Case Study: Event Mgt & Consumer Promotion Seven, New Idea & FUZE TEA My Kitchen Rules Promotion The Brief: To organise and execute an intimate dinner for the winning My Kitchen Rules (MKR) couple and the winner of the FUZE Tea / MKR competition. Entrants were asked to submit their best recipe incorporating the FUZE Tea Citrus flavours and the best recipe was judged the winner. The winner invited nine of their closest friends to dine with the winners of MKR in their home town.: Our Role: 33 Degrees drafted T&Cs, handled all permit applications, managed all travel bookings for the talent and the winner and their guests including transfers to/from the event and accommodation for the evening. 33 Degrees secured the event space, a luxurious Sydney private penthouse, styled the space and worked with our favourite chefs to create a high-end dinner party and bespoke menu that incorporated elements of the FUZE Tea range into the various dishes for the ultimate branded experience. Dessert included: ‘Pineapple carpaccio, white chocolate cream parfait, FUZE Tea mango and chamomile jelly, meringue kisses, caramel and brik cigar.’ The winner approved the proposed menu, “I am extremely satisfied with the menu from starter to dessert. Love the FUZE tea touches. Love your decision on wine and beverages, brilliant choices. I love the creativity and flair in the dessert menu. Every element and ingredient makes my sweet taste-buds jump for joy with anticipation.” We love an enthusiastic winner!

Case Study: Media Promotion The X Factor & Golden Gaytime ‘Holiday like a Rockstar’ on your own private island The Brief: To propose and fulfil a suitable branded travel experience reflecting Golden Gaytime’s new flavours and complimented The X Factor brand.

Our Role: 33 Degrees proposed various concepts for the major prize. The concept Channel 7 selected was the ‘Holiday like a Rockstar,’ where the winner and five companions won a trip to their very own private island, Haggerstone in Far North Queensland. The winner had indicated that ‘Mint’ was her favourite flavour, so 33 Degrees incorporated simple touches during her stay to reflect this (e.g Mint shower gel, mint flavoured lollies on their fishing expedition, mint coloured Turkish towels and of course, Mint flavoured Gaytimes. We handled all communication with the winner concerning the prize fulfilment, booked all travel components including the private charter flights from Cairns and also liaised closely with the owners of Haggerstone Island to ensure the winner’s experience was high-end and accurately reflected the brand.

The Outcome: “We explored the nearby reefs on the island’s private boat, ate freshly caught seafood and the rooms were beautifully decorated. We appreciated the “mint” touches that were incorporated into our stay.”

Case Study: Trade Incentive Samsung All Stars New York trade incentive The Brief: To create an aspirational New York group trip itinerary that would challenge the dealer network to increase sales by encouraging them to compete for the chance to win a place on the trip.

Our Role: To develop a programme with the right balance of sightseeing, exclusive experiences, casual and fine dining, free time and group bonding time – all at a sharp price point. The final trip itinerary included flights, five nights hotel accommodation, spending money, a visit to the Samsung Experience Columbus Circle, shopping experience, attending an ice hockey match from a private suite at Madison Square Garden, a foodie walking tour, Broadway show tickets and local guides and transportation throughout.

The Outcome: “Octagon has engaged 33 Degrees on several travel related trips, most recently for trade trips to New York City, USA and Tokyo, Japan for our client, Samsung. Trips involved detailed planning sessions, regular WIP conversations, behind the scenes conversations with local suppliers as well as all booking management across our attendees who were based throughout Australia to ensure our trips ran smoothly. Case Study: Consumer Promotion Seven ESPN ‘CrownBet NBA Promotion’ The Brief: Seven ESPN approached 33 Degrees to assist with prize fulfilment of the promotion they had run with CrownBet. The prize involved sending a winner and their guest to the US to attend a 2018 NBA finals game.

Our Role: The challenge with delivering a prize to the NBA finals, is that the host city of the game (i.e. the winner's destination!) is not known until a few days before the actual match. Through our extensive network of contacts, we were able to lock in access to tickets, arrange last-minute flights from Australia to San Francisco for the winners, return airport transfers, transfers to/from the game and accommodation.

The Outcome: “33 Degrees greatly assisted in helping organise a trip for a competition. We engaged with 33 Degrees at late notice and it was difficult to organise due to the nature of the NBA finals prize, but they handled the whole prize management with pure professionalism. Case Study: Consumer Promotion Hyundai FIFA World Cup Promotion The Brief: Innocean came to us to recommend inclusions for a prize package to the FIFA World Cup 2018 to leverage their sponsorship of the event. They wanted their winner to not only see the Final but also have an amazing holiday experience in Russia.

Our Role: We created a bespoke one week itinerary and managed all travel bookings including fights, transfers. accommodation, travel insurance, spending money and winner management services. We used our contacts on the ground in Russia to ensure the winners were well looked after and their feedback says it all!

Case Study: Trade Incentive Fairfax Staff Trade Incentive to Bali The Brief: To create a memorable trip to Bali for the Melbourne State Sales Team as a reward for winning an internal incentive and to build teamwork and staff engagement.

Our Role: To design and fulfil a bespoke 5 night programme for 14 pax with a combination of exclusive experiences, casual and fine dining, free time and group bonding sessions – all on a very tight budget! It was also absolutely imperative that all the travel components met the stringent safety and security requirements of the company’s HR department. The final trip itinerary included flights; airport transfers; accommodation in two adjoining luxury villas with stunning cliff-top views, housekeeper and security guard; on-site custom Yoga Experience; on-site Chef to prepare bespoke menus for internal dining to suit the various dietary requirements of the participants; fine dining at external venues; and ground transportation throughout.

The Outcome: The team had a blast in Bali! Their accommodation and entire experience was out-of-this-world leaving them feeling highly motivated to win their incentive again next year.
