This is one of the most popular sports in Turkey. Yagli gures means literally oiled wrestling. The wrestlers wear tight short leather trousers called "Kispet", made of water buffalo leather weighing approximately 13 kilograms, and they cover themselves with olive oil. Last summer i found my self sitting in grandstand in village of Gökbel. Gökbel is very beautiful village up in Taurus mountains near Alanya. It tooks about 50 minutes to drive there.

It's was big fair as well with music and celebrations and it goes on until the morning. Usually lamb roast is a very popular food. In the entertainments, belly dancing is accompanied by Turkish traditional musical instruments 'davul' (drum) and 'zurna' (a type of flute) and singings. I didnt know anything about oil resling, but i noticed that day started with younger and lighter reslers and ended with really big and strong ones. I can guarantee that this is really really nice and interested sport even woman to look! This event they have every year. Saturday there is huge music concert with best of Turkish singers, there is many thousand people lisning the concert. If you want to spent night there, you need own tent. Sunday is then resling day. Yalan Dünya ( Fake Life) Cave The Yalan Dünya cave is located 7 km away form Gazipasa town centrum to east. Place called Beyrebucak. It is 5 million years old and alive cave. It is one of the longest cave in the world. It is about 4 km long, but only 450 m is open for the public. From the walls you can find old fossils, and there is also living active and unique bat group. Temperature and high humidity inside the cave brings relief to people who has asthma, bronchitis or high fever. I didnt know know we have this kind of treasure in our neighbourhood.. did you? Sulu Yemek, in English means " Food what is made in water". Those are typical traditional Turkish foods. Chicken or meat or only vegetables are stewed in water, so there is food and sauce in same plate when you get it.

Local Lokanta restaurants are making Sulu Yemek in Turkey and also there is Sulu Yemek restaurants, who are specialize in only making Sulu Yemek- foods. It is typical lunch food here.It is ready when you arrive to restaurant, so you get to table very fast. Sulu Yemek foods are cheap and really tasty. When you come to Turkey please try Sulu Yemek foors, i guarantee that you love that more than typical restaurant food:). Alanya Municipality future project is Alanya Gastronomy Museum. Alanya municipality has been organizing Alanya local meal courses for citizens. With this idea they want to bring and teach local meal history and cooking for the new and next generations. The museum will be located on the Alanya Castle, they will restore an old Alanya house for the purpose.
Turkey's tourism in high jump! 1.5 million tourists visited Turkey in January 2018. It is almost 40% more than 2017. The largest tourist countries here in Turkey are Iran, Georgia, Bulgaria, Germany and Russia. In January, hotels were also booked for almost 30% more than a year earlier. The average hotel cost was 60 euros. In the summer, British continue to travel mostly to the eastern Spain, but for example Corendon Turism, said that their result has improved nearly 100% this coming year. The Dutch and Belgians are leaving the largest part of Turkey in love with them. Similar good news is also heard from Germany and Russia, who have always been Turkey's largest country of travel .. We have Superman working in our office, his name is Candemir. Today he did fix tapu for 2 finnish 13 years old girls. Sellers were also from Finland, but Candemir did have their Power of Attorney. Buyers were in Alanya with their parents. It is good idea to put Tapu direct to your children name, and we are that office who can do that!

Did you know that... You can change your euros to liras also in bankautomat. Like if you go to Ziraat Bank red automat, it is very easy to use. Choose first " foreing exhange" ja put euros in from " Para girisi". Automat will show you a rate of the day. Then you just accept it and you will get your liras. Machine is working in English.
Sometimes people thinks " Broker doesn't know the place" , but this one I know:). Today we went to see my old rental home in Kale, owner wants to sell it:). It is lovely apartment, with the greatest view in Alanya and that peace.. If you are looking that, here is your place.. ps. Im envy you ! During the creation of Gourd lamps, the amount of manual labour is astonishing. Enough reason to be curious about the details of this extraordinary process. The gourd is a fruit comparable to the watermelon, being green when it hangs from a tree. The inside consists of white pulp with seeds. After the harvest a circle is carved from the bottom to remove the pulp. The gourd is cleaned, both inside and out, after which it is ready to dry in the sun. The gourd hardens and gets its more recognizable beige color.

The dried-out, hardened gourd is now ready to be transformed into a beautiful lamp. The design is created and with a special drill the holes are carefully created into the most stunning patterns. Istanbul offers many new and delightful cafe - restaurants where friends and family meet to discuss topics of the day over a cup of traditional Turkish coffee. Derived from the Arabica bean, Turkish coffee is a very fine, powder-like grind. An aromatic spice called cardamom is sometimes added to the coffee while it is being ground. One can also boil whole seeds with the coffee and let them float to the top when served. Turkish coffee has six levels of sweetness ranging from very sweet to black. Since sugar is not added to the coffee after it is served, spoons are not needed. As the coffee begins to heat, it begins to foam. A rule of the Turkish coffee ceremony dictates that if the foam is absent from the face of the coffee, the host loses face.
In Alanya here is very active surfing group. But if you are not ready for surfing you can always go for 2 hours Supboard trip. We left from beach front of Alanya municipality house. First it felt really unstable, but when i relaxed, it was really fun. We left at 6 in morning, so city was quiet, everything was beautiful. We went to small beach front of old shipyard, taken some pictures there. Turkish coffee is served hot from a special coffee pot called "cezve". Şalgam or Şalgam Suyu (in translation: "turnip juice") is a popular beverage from the southern Turkey cities Adana and Mersin. Kunefe is made from a stretchy, unsalted fresh melting cheese called hatay found only in this region— mozzarella would be the closest Western analogue. The cheese is coated in sugar syrup-soaked phyllo shreds called kadayıf (the same ones used to make some varieties of baklava, as described above), and fried until crisp. Its appeal is the contrasting textures of the crunchy exterior against the soft, melty interior. Yesterday we did visit with Candemir new " Ikinci bahar spor alani", so park to older people:). There is many equipments to use for little sport, and also small playground for little children. The"golden time" was 1930, when it was just about the only way to travel, and the fastest way also, thousand miles through the whole Europe.The Orient Express was a luxury and great elegance. The royals, nobles and diplomats travelled with the exotic Orient Express train. Later, during the cold war to train was full of stories and rumors of spies etc. on the way to the exciting world of the East, beyond the Iron Curtain of the enemy camp. The original Orient Express will no longer exist. The working was in the last few decades on several times in big troubles.At the end of the year 2009 it was decided to finally close.

Hiking has arrived to Alanya, and will stay here! Last Saturday we left from Alanya with 36 persons group. We did drive with bus 1,5 hours to Akseki area. Bus left us in small village, we started ours walking from there towards to Taurus mountain. You can just admire spring time in Turkey, green fields with hundreds of trees full of flowers!
stopped and we walked 3 km to the cave. Totally unbelievable place! Cave is in national park area and you can go inside the cave with rubber boat. Guide who came with us told as facts of the cave. Water was emerald green, and very cold. End of the cave there was beautiful waterfall and caves walls was from limestone.
We started to clime mountain slope along the curving path, it was like 4 km long, until we came to top. It was in 1200 m, the view was incredible. Huge mountains everywhere and deep deep valleys between them, ah so beautiful! Sometimes the path was difficult to detect, but many thousand years traders and camel caravans has used it.
There is different kind of difficulty levels in hiking tour, this ours was like middle one. We hiked about 10 km. It was challenging because of up hill walk. Hills made our group to stretch into long queue. But there is also easy hiking where are used small roads in flat areas.
After 4 hours hiking we came near Minareli village, and we stop there in corner of field. There we enjoyed our lunch, what we all has in our back bags. Water is very important also, yes its heavy but within day back bag is coming lighter. Village was like we have use time machine and went back hundreds years. Houses was made of stones and woods.Beautiful balconies and delightful door, cows in fields, birds were singing in the trees. Life with out noise and stress! After the lunch we hiked back to bus and trip continued to Altınbeşik cave. Before cave bus
i recommend everybody to try these hiking tours. Alanya and areas near by are full of historic places and incredible miracles of nature. Hiking tours are not expensive, this tour was 60 tl. Simit are often described as the Turkish bagel but this is an inaccurate description. Simit are baked in a stone oven where as bagels are boiled before being baked. Simit also tend to be crunchy on the outside providing a delicious contrast in texture to the soft inside. Municitypality has trollies in city where you can buy Simits. Also Simit are also sold in bakeries all over town, and some in a variety of flavors. Susam (sesame), haşhaş (black sesame), and Ay Çekirdeği (sunflower seed) are some of the most well known. It is also possible on occasion to get add-ons to your breakfast bread like krem peynir (cream cheese) or recel (fruit jam.) The standard one costs 90 kurus. Note: Simit last a maximum of 1 day so do not purchase them in advance and expect them to stay fresh. You can somewhat rehabilitate your simit by toasting it but it will never be as good as the fresh variety.
Did you know that... There is many animals who are only living in our area. Many knows our beautiful and huge Caretta Caretta sea turtles. They are making their eggs specially in Gazipasa and Alanya area. People are protecting those eggs and when time comes and babies are ready to run to sea, volunteers are carry them to see with baskets. Also we have great seals in here, Mediterranean Monk Seal. There is only about 600 them left. They need clean water to live and make babies. I have seen one in Fethiye harbour, it was joyful moment. So lets try our best to keep our wonderful sea clean, no more trash there.. Tamam?
Alanya Cultur and Turism 18 th festival just ended yesterday. Inside three days there was many concerts and dance shows. And ofcourse lots of people was in those shows.

Last weekend i went to 4 hours riding tour to Toros mountain, middle of Kargicak and Demirtas. Place called Alanya horse club. it was really nice tour. All horses were in good conditions, views were fabulous. We ride, and sometimes walk with them too. Also we did have some breaks too. Did you know... Saz (Turkish Long Neck Lute) The Saz is the grandfather of the Greek Bouzouki. It's originated in Central Asia where Turks lived before their westward migration. Like the guitar in Spain and the bouzouki in Greece, the Saz is the most popular stringed instrument in Turkey. Although similar in shape to the Greek Bouzouki, the construction, size and sound of the Saz is different. You need a baglama saz to be able to play the microtones (Perde) of Arabic music. These instruments have traditional tied frets that are movable, and 3 courses of strings.
Did you know that... It is really easy and cheap travel to Antalya by bus from Alanya, 25 tl, and also there is many busses and bus companies going true days. When you go to bus station, otogar, go direct and buy you seat. There is also service in bus. At least you are getting water, lemonade, tea or coffee. Some companies are also given you snacks. Busses who are going far away has also tv, movies and possibility to load your mobile phone.
New "goverment hospital" like people call it, Devlet, has been open few month now in Oba, behind Metro. There is first Aid, different polyclinics and hospital departures. If you have resident permit, it is quite inexpensive to use this Devlet hospital. And there is also English language translator.

How a holiday home in Alanya brings divorced couple back together This weekend Finnish newspaper Taulussanomat published a nice article describing the life in Turkey for the Leinonen couple. Leinonen bought a holiday home in Alanya more than 10 years ago and are now staying here every winter to get away from cold Finland. Originally the couple got divorced back in 1994, but when Mr. Olavi Leinonen later decided to invest in a holiday home in Alanya it led to a visit from his then ex-wife Irmeli and the couple got back together. The apartment is located in Elite City residence and was bought via us here at 2Base Estate Agency.

Flightlist for Gazipasa airport & ferry boat from Alanya to Girne An unofficial list showing all flights in and out of Gazipasa airport has been published. This list is showing not only the airline and flight destination, but also the periods of which these flights take place.

- Jump on the local bus and see where it takes you
- Go out Turkish style at "Harem Bar".
- Ride the cable car up to the Castle area - Piknik at the new park area north of Alanya - Order and eat fresh fish at Yeni Hal and drink salgam. - Try Turkish coffee - Go inside Alanya Museum. We bet you have passed it several times, but have you actually entered?
- Rent a bike and ride along the beach. From Konakli there is safe passage all the way to Kargicak. - Visit the local craftsmen area called Sanayi and finally and most important... - Use your imagination and take the opportunities that are handed to you. About colored stickers and elevators For those of you who has recently been in an elevator in Turkey, we are sure you have noticed the colored sticker seen inside most elevators. But what does the different colors mean and exactly what are they symbolizing? That is a good question, so we did a little research on elevator controls for your safety. All elevators must be regularly checked to ensure that they are all safe to use.
Yellow Label Less serious faults that must be corrected within a period of 60 days. Blue Label For defects labelled blue there is a period of 12 month of corrections. Green Label The green label means that no defects what so ever has been found and that your elevator is in a perfect condition.
The faults detected in these controls are classified into red, yellow, green and blue according to their degree and a visible label is affixed inside the elevator cabinet.
If the elevator has not yet been asesed and no labels are seen, you should contact an authorized elevator company as soon as possible and request your elevators to have periodic inspection carried out.
Red Label If the irregularities identified and labelled as red are not corrected within 30 days, you will risk that your elevator will be sealed off by the municipality.
Finally we want to remind you that using the stairs now and is very healthy and recommendable no matter what color the sticker of the elevator is... 45

A getaway to Alanya Did you ever wonder how the perfect holiday week looks like? If so, then read more in this blog where we guide you through 7 lovely days in Alanya
In the evening you go to the nearest local restaurant. It is within walking distance and the waiters will surely recognize you from your last visit.
- Day 1 Today you just arrived and even though the trip to Alanya is not that long, today is for relaxing.
- Day 2 You get up early because the sun is strong these first couple of days. You hit the beach as one of the first and are awarded with a sun bed in first line to the sea. Until lunch you swim and enjoy the sun.
You go for a short walk to the local vegetable shop and fill up the fridge with seasonal fruits. It is very cheap and you pull out your blender and make some fresh smoothies. The rest of they day you spend on the balcony and at the pool Do not forget sun lotion and to drink a lot of water. 46
Around lunch time it gets too hot and you move into the shade at the beach bar. Here you can order a small lunch and a cold and refreshing Efes. After lunch you walk back to your apartment. It is hot but luckily you can spend the rest of the afternoon in your cooled apartment.

You find the time to finish your book and make a few Skype-calls to friends and family. After sunset you get into a taxi and drive to the city center. Here you walk along the lively and busy Atatürk street. All the shops are still open and there is a lot going on.
- Day 6 Your last day in Alanya. Time to go shopping and get something for friends, family and of course yourself. In the bazaar you find an overwhelming amount of cheap copy products. At the main street it is more the real deal, just cheaper than at home.
You end up at the harbor area and enjoy a perfect dinner at one of the many upscale restaurants.
You end up having to buy an additional suitcase, and keep your fingers crossed that this will not mean having overweight.
- Day 3 You wake up late. After having breakfast on your balcony you go down to the pool for a couple of hours.
Finally the best purchase of the day is done at the local jewelry shop. Here you can really save some money, so your conscience is clean.
After that you go shopping, since you will eat at home tonight.
The shopping tour sees its end at one of the many cafes with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake.
Luckily supermarkets in Turkey are not that different to supermarket at home, so you have no problem getting what you need. - Day 4 The rental car is delivered to you exactly at 9 o clock as agreed. You drive up to the mountains behind Alanya and first stop is at one of the local restaurants serving Turkish breakfast. What a breakfast that is, no lunch is needed now... After this you drive directing Gazipasa and take a swim at an unspoiled beach while the sun sets. Gazipasa has a cozy bazaar area with local fish restaurants. You order "levrek" and drink "salgam" with the locals. - Day 5 Beaching all day - no chance in hell that you will return to work looking like a pale fish like your co-workers.
You have not had time to think about dinner, so your order some kebab from the local restaurant and they deliver to your door step. Before going to bed it is time to pack and go for at last swim in the pool. - Day 7 Bye bye Alanya, or "güle güle" as your Turkish friends are saying. Despite all the shopping you have only minimal overweight and the staff at the check-in counter turns the blind eye to it. A week has passed and you could easily have spend seven more days. Luckily you know that you will soon be back again...

Alanya is the city of playgrounds Families with children love Alanya. The climate here is perfect for both smaller and bigger children and the list of activities for children is long and exiting. For older children we have go-carting, paintball, cinema, tree climbing (parkour), ATV excursions and much more.
As a foreigner you should not be afraid to take advantage of this, even if you might be the only foreigner there. Trust us when we say, that the local parents and kids will be more than happy to see a foreign face on their playground.
Younger children will surely enjoy all the playgrounds in and around Alanya.
Even playgrounds might not meet European safety rules 100% it is very close and generally speaking the equipment and facilities are safe and extremely well looked after.
Last couple of years the municipality has put a lot of work into building small parks with playgrounds all around Alanya.
So next time you visit Alanya with a kid try out the local playground - we are sure you will like it.

Alanya, from the east (Oba, Tosmur etc): Drive along the main street/ Atatürk street until you reach the PTT/ post office. Now continue a few hundred meters until you have a McDonalds on your left hand and green BP petrol station on your right hand. Continue 25 meters past the McDonalds and turn left. Our office is located on the left side on the second line to the main street. Alanya, from the west side (Antalya, Avsallar etc): Drive along the main street/ Atatürk street direction city center.
