It really is an exciting time to become a member of the Richmond Park and North Kingston Conservative Association. After a resounding victory in the local Greater London Authority Campaign we are now looking to build our teams in preparation for the 2018 Council Elections.

Members play a very active and important role in the Party. For just £25 a year (or £5 a year if you’re under 23), you get: □ regular invitations to events □ access to our Affinity Programme □ invited to Party Conferences □ to vote in Party Leadership elections □ to vote in the candidate selection process for Councillors, MPs and MEPs □ to join the local ward team.

Conservative-run Richmond upon Thames has maintained services without increasing taxes for six years now. Meanwhile, the Conservative-led council in Kingston upon Thames is already making fundamental improvements to the lives of residents by introducing 30 minutes free parking, providing more police and cutting down on waste.

Your Conservative MP, Zac Goldsmith, continues to fight for residents against Heathrow expansion and to protect against over-development and other environmental threats.

Your representatives need your support, now more than ever, to maintain good governance and to effect lasting positive change in both Richmond and Kingston and in Parliament.

UNDER 30?

The Association runs its own very successful branch of Conservative Future.

This is our movement for under 30s, and includes all members of the Conservative Party of this age. Conservative Future is the largest youth political organisation in the UK, with more than 15,000 members.

Members of Conservative Future have the opportunity to get involved in campaign activity – supporting and standing as Conservative candidates in elections at all levels, from student politics to Westminster.

DINE WITH US The Association runs a Supper Club that meets four times a year. This is an opportunity to listen to an engaging political speaker whilst enjoying a reasonably priced

meal and a glass of wine in a nice location with friends and associates. Key speakers in recent months have included Lord Strathclyde, Lord Popat, Stephen Hammond MP and Zac Goldsmith.

HELP SHAPE POLICY The Association runs its own Branch of the Conservative Policy Forum. This is an opportunity to discuss both national and local policy issues and contribute to the debate. National topics are provided monthly by the Cabinet Office, to which we feed back, and local topics are led by our Councillor Groups and help inform their manifesto commitments. Recent discussions have centred on Taxation, Housing, the NHS and Local Government Finances. It is a great way to get your ideas heard and it gives Conservative Members the chance to discuss the major policy challenges facing Britain, and come up with solutions.

VOLUNTEER We always need people willing to lend a hand in the democratic process. There are many ways to get involved with us: □ Displaying posters □ Delivering leaflets □ Canvassing during elections □ Clerical help in the office □ Helping with events

STAND FOR ELECTION Becoming a Councillor is a most rewarding experience. It gives you the opportunity to help your local community, gain political experience, and develop useful skills in public speaking and problem solving. New Councillors bring fresh ideas and fresh enthusiasm to local politics. Membership of the party is a prerequisite for anybody who wishes to seek political office under the Conservative Party banner.

VOTING RIGHTS Membership of the Association give you voting rights when it comes to choosing your local candidates (whether for Parliament, Council or City Hall) and also gives you a say in national leadership contests.
