DISTRICT 56 TOASTMASTERS NEWSLETTER
Club Success Plan

Every year in June, incoming officers - before the July term starts - complete a Club Success Plan (page 12 Club Leadership Handbook Timeline). The Club Success Plan is a helpful tool to assist your club in achieving Distinguished status. This plan is broken into five sections, along with an area to list contributing members and a list of created action items. With a solid plan and teamwork, your club will be Distinguished or better in no time. The digital Club Success Plan may be found in Club Central or download a fillable PDF.

Member Interest Survey
Every year in July, the Vice President Membership asks members to complete a Member Interest Survey (page 12 Club Leadership Handbook Timeline).
The Member Interest Survey can be used to help plan club programs around needs and interests as well as help members communicate their objectives and goals.
Have you completed your fillable PDF Member Interest Survey and submitted it to the Vice President Membership?

A GUIDE TO A QUALITY CLUB
Did you know Toastmasters International revised the Club Leadership Handbook last month (June 2024)? Check out the latest revised Club Leadership Handbook.
By following our Club Timeline in the Club Leadership Handbook, we will be sure to not miss specific deadlines and important tasks.
The Club Timeline for members to follow may be found on pages 12-15.
Members join Toastmasters to become more effective communicators and leaders. They stay in Toastmasters because the club provides value and meets their individual needs. A quality club environment is the single most important factor in membership retention. Quality clubs provide the greatest opportunity for each member to develop communication and leadership skills.
Great club meetings make successful clubs. They are essential for building and maintaining membership. The secret to successful meetings is planning. Plan and conduct meetings in which every member has a chance to learn, achieve, and have fun!
Check out Quality Club Meetings - Keys to Club Meeting Success & Quality Club Guidelines (pages 42 and 43 Club Leadership Handbook).

District Leader Training will be hosted at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, California, United States Dates for District Leader Training are August 12 and 13 Our Trio is registered and has completed their pre-work While completing their Work Styles Assessment in the District Leader prework, our Trio found out they have the same primary work style, Amiable: compassionate and empathetic, live by a strong sense of beliefs and values, lead with heart and through others, like to be helpful and reliable, and value acceptance, harmony, and stability, just to name a few preferences

Understanding the styles and preferences of team members allows you to adapt how you communicate, which improves the effectiveness of your working relationships It also helps you to learn your team members’ preferred ways to make decisions, receive information, work on projects, and deal with conflict

Area Director Visits to the Club

The club’s most immediate connection with District leadership is the Area Director, who visits and evaluates the club at least twice a year During a visit, the Area Director observes the meeting and assesses club quality using the standards outlined in Moments of Truth. The goal of this visit is to offer feedback and support so that the club can provide the best possible service for all Toastmasters members in a fun, nurturing, and rewarding environment.
Area Directors use the Area Director Club Visit Report, which is based on Moments of Truth, as a guideline for club evaluation. Completed club visit reports are forwarded to the District, where they are used to assess the performance of the District as a whole.
By visiting each club in their Area, Area Directors identify strengths and opportunities for improvement for their clubs, while also working to build and maintain positive relationships with the club
During the Area Director’s visit, they will discuss the following topics with club officers:
•Club Success Plan
•Club’s status in the Distinguished Club Program
•Upcoming/scheduled events
• Members interested in serving in leadership roles
•Goals or milestones for the club to achieve
